my dad had a ‘61 Comet, 2 dr sedan originally silver then when the paint peeled had it painted maroon. 3 on the tree shifting. It was the sole family car until my younger siblings were born then we got the Country Squire. Kept the Comet until 71 then donated it to the HS auto shop. memories!!!😊

Always great to see old cars out in the snow! Manual choke too!..I prefer those over the automatic type, expecially in cold weather.
@LGKustoms2 жыл бұрын
I prefer manual chokes too. Shannon actually converted this car to a manual choke. Comets however, being a bit higher end than a Falcon never had a manual choke from factory and Shannon really did not want a generic choke knob, so she sourced one from a ‘59 Edsel. Since Comet was originally supposed to under the Edsel marque, there is a lot of interchangeable cosmetic parts between the two, including the dash knobs.
@CarterAutoRestyling2 жыл бұрын
@@LGKustoms That's really interesting, I didn't realize they were meant to be part of the Edsel lineup. The knob looks right at home on the dash!

@@LGKustoms I have a 62 Comet S-22 I too prefer the manual chokes now I know where to look for the right knob/cable.

As slow as my 144 cubic inch Comet was with a three speed manual, I cannot imagine this was the 2 speed automatic. My parents had a 1960 Falcon equipped with the automatic and it couldn’t spin gravel.
@LGKustoms Жыл бұрын
It’s pretty slow! Not that car you’d want for a quick getaway.

Good thing you have covered keylocks. You must have an alternator by the speed of those wipiers

Still a stock generator when this video was made.

Exactly how my comet sounded before I went dual exhaust
@LGKustoms2 жыл бұрын
Cool! Did you use a header or split manifold?
@lukebecker19592 жыл бұрын
@@LGKustoms I put a header on mine since the original exhaust manifold had a lot of cracks

Haha awesome! This car is currently in the shop getting a heart transplant. It shouldn’t need snow to slide around anymore

Will it start if you don't use any choke on really cold morning?
@LGKustoms Жыл бұрын
Not usually, unless it’s really cold or the car has been sitting a while.
@bruceedgecomb8722 Жыл бұрын
do you use salt on the roads
@LGKustoms Жыл бұрын
Me? No, I don’t put anything on the roads. I let the city take care of it. 😆 Haha no they don’t use salt here, it only snows like this once, maybe twice a year and it usually melts within a day.

Straight piped?

Just a single glass pack between the axle and the rear bumper.

We cant preserve ond cars if people are going to drive them in the winter. Be responsible
@LGKustoms5 ай бұрын
Relax man, it snows two days a year where I live. Cars are made for driving, not to sit in some climate controlled museum.
