I used to drive one of these in the late 70s. First truck I drove with a heater in it. It had a ZF gearbox. 6 speed with a splitter. It was back to front, 1st gear was where 5th would be. I have a picture of it with a load of hay on it, on a low level bridge crossing the Talbragar river between Gilgandra and Mendooran.

Very nice vid. Driving daily MB trucks. To see this old chap is awesome. Remember them well in the 70´s when did their work for a constraction company. They called Rundhauber in Germany and a collector item these days. Firing straight up shows how robust these engines are. As for the sign. you are right the 1st digits are the load capacity and the last the engine hp. Never saw a 19to, maybe it´s for the Australian market with different weight regulation. Normally 18to = 2 axle, 26to = 3 axle , 32to = 4axle. Greetz from Germany

Hi mate, I hope all’s good 🙂 On restoring the cab: this cab was used on Mercs for the Brazilian (and other export) markets until very recently; like until 5 years ago! The roof and everything except the rear right-hand side looks saveable. Maybe source a right-hand rear quarter and a door from Brazil? Possibly also a good source for replacement glass and seals, and parts tend to be cheap over there 🙂
@oliverroedel11116 ай бұрын
5 years ago? in brazil? no way! but sure you will find parts easily. but in my opinion the front window is the biggest problem. or not? maybe you can by them there? my 68 f350 (brazilian) maybe needs a new one, and that will be expensive cause they need to be fabricated individual.

Nice that the wife helps with the filming. Makes the channel a family thing. Saw the daughter too and the cute dog. We got a terrier mix. Callie. I think i know what engine is in it. It's the OM 355 which is a six cylinder (not sure of the displacement). Many of these L series rigs had the smaller OM 352 which is a 5.7 litre inline-6 with or without a turbo. That engine produced between 130 and 180 horse. As for this one i'm not sure.
@joshuadebideen226 ай бұрын
It made between 240hp(normally aspirated LS 1924) and 340hp 11.6L(turbocharged and Intercooled LS 1934 Turbocooler);There were also 5 cylinder variants of the OM355 which produced between 190 and 260hp(9.6L)

Hi Kym sorry for the late reply mate. Yes it’s certainly much quieter than a GM. The red ute is a 69 Ford Ranchero. Fully imported. My wife and her sister inherited it after a family fried passed
