Pretty nice car! It reminds me the Ford Falcons of the 60's in details like the mirror, the door opening levers.What a pitty it doesn't work, but as long as the body remains in good shape it is not impossible to fix or replace, Iguess. Greetings from Argentina!

When you pulled that paper out of the glove box at 8:45 I immediately recognized that barcode in the upper left corner, it's for an optical scanner to advance the counter on a microfilm camera. I spent six years doing that in the mid 90s for insurance documents, feeding them into a slot on the machine that would take a picture of both sides at the same time onto dual rolls of 16 millimeter microfilm.

Thing has tons of potential, if someone got it running you could drive it the way it sits I'd say. A Mayberry patrol car is on my list of cars I need, I love police cars in general but its so cool to see the old ones and how they were set-up compared with new cruisers.

This isn't a Ford Galaxie, it's a Ford Fairlane. Galaxie's had completely different roof lines from the Fairlane. The Galaxie Shared the Roof with Mercury Montery's and Meteor Montcalm for 1961. Police cars would have been the less expensive Fairlane in 1961

That is such a cool car. That would be a good car for someone to restore. Was it owned by somebody or some company or just an abandoned car?

Damn that's pretty well worn out, funny about the hood release, my grandfather's 1957 Beetle has a traditional hood release inside the vehicle, I wish there wasn't snow all over the place, I want to drive it!!

That car has a power antenna? What car does our father have now that his Escalade is gone?
@robertwenzell951012 жыл бұрын
Nice '61 Fairlane.It does not have a 390 FE engine;it does have a 292 Y-Block(you can tell by the exhaust manifolds and the valve covers-and that looks like the original engine color;Ford Red).The car has no power brakes,just standard drum brakes and a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic Transmission.As of the date of this post,I really do hope Someone got this beauty road-worthy.Thanks.

you should make a video on a 1965 mercury marauder
@mrfarmerjimbob14 жыл бұрын
I think it's a 292 with a Fordomatic. That's not an FE block-it's a Y-Block& I don't think that Ford did the 312 in 61. I think, that the only Y-blck available then was the 292 with a 2-barrell, although I'm willing to be proved wrong if anyone knows better. Looks like the body is pretty solid & straight & wouldn't be too difficult to restore--the interior could be another story.

Yeah, in 1961 it was rare that anyone would think of popping your hood to jack your battery or crosswire your engine.

Didnt need an inside hood release back then because most people had sense and no one was steeling batteries and messing with peoples cars. Most people then left there windows down all night unless rain was expected.

Actually it's not a Galaxie. It's a Fairlane, the cheaper model in the big Ford line for 1961...It's got an FE series big block (probably a 390), Fordomatic transmission, power steering, manual brakes, radio delete. Probably that way a cop car would have been ordered back in '61...

Cool car just needs some work done on the paint, a new headliner, a gas peddle, a horn rime, some work done on the chrome, the door lock needs to be fixed, work on the back seat and the floor, clean up the engine and get it running, apart from all that this thing looks awesome, it’s so cool I love classic cars. Just saying if you have a classic you want to show it off kind of hard to do if it doesn’t run

Most would not recognize Mayberry today. I understand it has 2 shopping malls, littered with new townhouse communities, the interstate runs right through it. Lots of illegals migrate there and the town mayor is gay.
