I have recently purchased my first classic car, this 1965 Ford Fairlane 500. Always wanted to own a classic and couldn't pass it up to buy a rust free car that was just about perfect (requiring minor work) a 289 V8 and a 3 speed manual on the column. It was traded in at my Dad's dealership for those who are not apart of the saabkyle04 facebook page and I bought it last week. I am looking forward to working on the car myself and fixing/replacing things as needed. Car drives like a dream and looks great. It's mostly original except for new upholstery, a decent paint job matching the original color, and a few nick nacks. Original 289 V8 numbers matching and 114k original miles. Like I said I am so excited to have this opportunity, there will be many videos on this car! hope you all enjoy! In this video I give a full in depth tour of the 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

Very nice Ford Fairlane. I have not driven a 3 speed on the column since high school. It is good to know that some of us are buying and fixing up classic cars. I like the 1966 Volkswagen Beetle you have on another video as well.

My first car was a 1965 Fairlane 500 four door. It was amazing!!!! My brother also had a 1965 Fairlane 500. His was a 2 door pillarless coup. His was the same color as yours until he painted it black.

That is one fine car. I love it. I had a column shifted manual transmission in my '63 Chevy Biscayne and in my '77 F100. I sure miss that column shifter and wish they would offer them today. My dream car would be this one or perhaps a more economical Falcon 6-banger equipped similar to this '65 Fairlane. Gotta love the simplicity of the controls. Great styling, not the blah styling of modern cars.

Awesome! This reminds me a whole lot of a couple old fords that my dad had about 10 years ago: a 1970 Ford Torino Hardtop 351C 4 speed, 1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible 351C Auto, and 1972 Gran Torino Sport Hardtop, 351 Cobra Jet 4 speed!

Hi Kyle! This is a very nice car you bought. You should have seat belts installed in the rear seat & shoulder belts for the front too. Doing this will give you & your passengers more safety in this car. Hope you will consider this. Take Care.

So now that you own a nice, classic car, I sure hope you're not gonna drive this like crazy because I think that classics like this should just be driven on the weekends to a vacation spot of some sort. Nice car Kyle. Very well maintained and kept. Congratulations on your first "classic car".

Congrat. This a unique combination. Normally Ford Fairlane used to be more of a housewife's car, or maybe of a young student. The colour testifies for it, specially if it would be with a more basic engine like the 200 inline six, with auto . With this premium drivetrain though, it was more of a sleeper.

Lucky...I've got the original 221 V8 in mine. Sounds like a lawn mower engine! Your fairlane looks (and runs) really nice! I myself prefer the earlier-60s-late-50s models, back when they had fins, but the 64s and 65s really look very classy.

@christich99 Before fuel injection, we had carburetors which relied on suction from the intake of air to get the gas and air to mix to be forced into the engine to burn. Fuel injection, pumps the gas/air mixture via high pressured nozzles and atomizes the fuel for better burning. Carburetors or "carbs" are extremely inefficient. You would burn more fuel at a stand still and would not optimize performance outputs. However, you can get fuel injection conversions for classic cars.

The second generation Corvairs are fine cars. The first gen cars had issues with the swing axle rear suspension and that is where they get their bad reputation from but from 1965-1969 they had fully independent suspension derived from the Corvette. They also happen to be the best looking Corvairs. I still wouldn't call them safe compared to a modern car, but they are actually much safer than almost any American car of that era because of their excellent handling and braking.

Gotta love cars from the 60's, lots of room, ashtrays galore and enough trunk room to store 3 dead hookers. This 289 has slightly more horsepower and torque as my 95 Grand Marquis' 281. It probably was great getting 8 miles to the gallon and not caring. lol

@saabkyle04 This car reminds me a lot about a '67 Ford Falcon that my father owned when I was a kid... It has some elements that are common to this Ford Fairlane, like the 3-speed manual transmision, and the steering wheel was a little similar... As far as I recall, my dad's car did have hazzards, and its original AM radio (which I think didn't work)... Nice car and video... =)
