Not bad. Check out my GW Invader 19 second 📹 just to see that motor mounted on a boat.

Front plate comes off by the choke knob and the high speed and low speed know removal. then you can remove the air box.

A new Honda 4 stroke 15HP is $3k and weighs a LOT more. So these powerful old 2 stroke motors are worth keeping up.

That's interesting. If I ever need to adjust it i'll look into drilling out that cap and see if I can free it from there.

How do you get those 2 knobs off to the right of the choke ??? They don't have screws in the center
@AnagramForCraig3 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the red and white plastic adjustment knobs? They just pull off. Liable to brake being almost 60 year old plastic, but it's just pressed on there and they pull off.

the low speed adjustment is supposed to spin atleast it does on mine 65 18hp, maybe the previous owner put locktight on it.

Thanks for the video, I'm in the process of repairing a 1965 Johnson Workhorse 15hp's carburettor, it is very similar, might even be the exact same carb, although the accessories and knobs are different. In mine at least the float valve seems busted. The motor runs with the carb as is but it does not idle. Was there a seal in the idle speed adjustment screw in your carb? Mine leaks fuel through the threads.

Lets see if you see this. Im wondering what you painted your boat with?
@AnagramForCraig8 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I had to have painted it about 9 years ago I don't exactly remember. It was a marine/aluminum paint from a store we have in Minnesota called Mills Fleet Farm. If I remember, I will look in my garage to see if we still have one of the old paint cans, or next time I'm at the store I can see if I recognize it there. It held up pretty darn well and looks pretty nice.

I just did a quick google search and I'm thinking it might have been this stuff. Not certain but it looks really familiar: Rust-Oleum Marine Coatings Topside Paint 207004

we have the same motor, ours starts but within a few seconds starts missing and tries to stop running. we replaced plugs and still does same thing. any suggestions

Laverne Williams if the motor has been sitting a while, it would certainly be a good idea to clean the carburetor. Gas can go bad and clog up the passageways inside the carburetor meaning the engine won't get enough fuel.

what are these motor worth running? thanks
@okramw13 жыл бұрын
That depends on overall condition. Anywhere from 50 to 1,500 dollars. Remember parts availability can ruin your day. Nice to have a classic, but understand, it's old & you have to take care of it properly. Do that & it can serve you well & be 😎

Glad you liked the video. It is hard for me to say if there is a seal there as my adjustment screw is locked up. I haven't fiddled with it in a long time so I can't say. If you look up a diagram of your carb at iboats(dot)com you should be able to see what all is in there.
