Thank you for your Love of The Great Ludwig Super Sensitive Snare Drum, what a Beautiful work of Craftsmanship! Your details to the Mechanics of the Ludwig Super Sensitive Snare and Awesome Hardware brings me Back to Early years as a Percussionist in Metairie, Louisiana where I played the Ludwig Marching Band Tall Snare Drums and the Big Ludwig Bass Drums! The public Schools were Roosevelt Middle School and "The Mighty Drum Corp Style Marching Band of Alfred T. Bonnabel Highschool in Metairie, Louisiana under the Directorship of Our Beloved Mr. Thousand! He served Our Country in WWII in the U.S. Navy! What an Awesome person and the First Band Director of Our Love Bonnabel Highschool! Thanks again for the great memories! Our Band Director Demanded to just call Him, "Prof", and we did! Our Marching Band under the Directorship of Prof, we could, Our Concert Band play the Classic Mozart, Beethoven or the Great George Gerschwin Jazz Music! We had so much Musical Talent in Our Bonnabel Highschool Marching and Concert Band it would spin your mind! We were the first High School Marching Band to Represent The Whole State of Louisiana in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in 1977! Our Highschool was just only Five-Years Old! At that time "The Bonnabel Highschool Marching Band at that moment and time, we had the Greatest Drum Corp Style Snare Drumline, in fact, the Whole Percussion Group or Team anywhere in America, and yes I was proudly and Happy to be apart of special dedicated group of Friends!

Wow that is an interesting account of your history at school and it must have been awesome. Are you still playing/practicing? ....Stay tuned as I will be restoring a 1920s 4x14 maple "super Ludwig" soon, which should be fun. Welcome to the channel friend and thanks for the very detailed message. Bruce

Great videos!!! I have torn apart, cleaned and reassembled a few ss snares. A few months ago a friend of mine gave one of his ss drums. It was in horrible shape. It looked like someone left it out in the elements. The chrome was peeling. It was rusted really bad. The only good thing about it was it was a whole drum. Completely intact. I took it apart with the intention of refurbishing it. When I looked into rechroming the shell and all the parts it was way over my budget!! So I put all the parts in a box, and gave it to a friend.

Thanks for tuning friend. Yeah I know chrome can be expensive. Lot of guys are just painting the shells now. That chrome can cut your hands, its really sharp. New vid out in the morning. Hope you enjoy. Tell your buddies about the channel. Cheers, Bruce

Drums are Cool!!! That’s Just the way it is. I think I saw a seam on that shell, which I didn’t expect. Must be a very special shell, that one! Came out really great, by the way. Those guards you had in your shop are key in my opinion. Too many little parts on the ends to bang on things as you move it around without them on there. Lucky you had those around. Anyway… Heck… I know a guy that swears by stencil kits from Japan. He’s practically a Luan expert. Has videos about leveling and reworking the bearing edges on Luan toms and such. If the kit plays and sounds good, I’m pretty much gonna like it too. Back to the subject of your Super Sensitive: You know… people turn these into Supraphonics by taking off all the special parts, but I think it’s a travesty. Get a Superphonic if that’s what ya want, in my opinion. I’m gonna get a Supraphonic soon here. I feel it slowly welling up in me. So far I’ve stopped just shy of pulling that trigger… On Reverb right now is a very conflicting listing. It’s for B stock Superphonic, with a slight imperfection, that’s mint. How do those things go together? Ha ha $309.00 Ok… I’m finished with my usual blabbing. Thanks for another video!!!

Yeah on the inside you can see a seam. Dont know what "seamless shell" means. Haha....As far as those B stock drums, they are good for a less expensive drum but why not save your money and for 6 or 7 hundred get an old one. These modern ones are not the thickness of the old ones and that makes a difference in sound. Thanks BC

Are you referring to that Buckn Billy guy? I think that’s his name. He’s Canadian or something of that sort. Super energetic and borderline insane? 😂 I like that guy

@@jaymeramirez7435 Yes… that’s him. As a guitarist who just kinda got into drums for something new, I was learning and researching things and found him. Whatever I choose to get into, I usually become a gear head about that subject, as an extension of the fun. His videos about bearing edges were super informative as I learned how to buy older drums of quality that were misused… and restore them in order to have some good stuff for far less $$$$. Thanks for your kind response, Jayme! I think he’s a good Dude too.

Beautiful. I own a Ludwig Maple Rock Concert drum in Thermogloss. It has the correct throw off. But not the correct butt plate and wires. This makes me less intimidated to tackle on the resto

Ammonia and water? I don’t remember what you said cleans these up? FYI: I’m currently building my own 6.5x14 Ludwig birch with psychedelic red wrap. Bow tie lugs. P88 throw with die cast butt. Canopus baseball bat internal muffler. S hoops TOP AND BOTTOM. Not sure which wires I’m gonna run. Staining the inside and outside of the shell walnut color. And repro Keystone badge. Everything brand new. Getting close to finishing. I had already stained and drilled. But I accidentally drilled the vent hole on the wrong side. And drilled the butt plate holes on the wrong side. So ordered another shell 🤦🏾‍♂️ another $80 down the drain. 😆

Hi! You have a great channel. I'm just curious if there's any way I can show you my super sensitive throwoff. There's something wrong here, but I can't figure out what it is. I live far away, but I could send a video by email

You skipped the part about mounting this snare throw off assembly back onto the shell the last thing you talked about was the 832 inch tap that you recommend and then you show a completely assembled throw off assembly in the next frame but you didn’t break down how you re-mounted the internal rod or the parts to the shell can you please do a live video on that thank you Drum is beautiful by the way

Oh sorry about that Neal. Goes on just the way it came off. Pretty simple really. Two screws to hold each jaw mechanism and one large nut and washer on the inside to hold each rod lever. Mount one side of the jaw to the shell and the rod lever. insert the rod on one side. Mount the other side of the jaw to the shell and the rod lever goes through the shell and connects to the rod. Remember to put the washer and the nut on the rod before inserting both sides. Is that sufficient? If not maybe I can do a quick vid on the install.
