1963 ABARTH MONOMILLE GT Street in Tokyo | Yutaka Yamagishi / 山岸 大 (Subtitles | JP.EN.IT.DE)

I have been driving the MONOMILLE, which was handmade and produced in 1963 using the same method as Abarth race cars, on the streets of Tokyo.
The light weight benefits made the MONOMILLE more than fast enough and easy to handle even on the streets.
I thought that the magic of Carlo Abarth was that I could drive the small body with the pleasant Abarth sound in the background and enjoy the exhilaration and fun of driving a sports car even on the street.
The very low seating position and nimble handling make you feel like a sports driver more than the actual speed.
The engine mounted in the rear has a good response that is hard to believe for an OHV engine, and while it has a characteristic of blowing up to high rpm, it is easy to handle on the street, and we confirmed that it has enough power and torque to be practical for the lightweight MONOMILLE.
Whether it was a short drive around the neighborhood or a drive on a winding road, the MONOMILLE was a great classic Abarth that could be driven easily and without any stress at all.

The original specification of this car was that it was not equipped with seat belts since it was new. You will not be ticketed by the police for that reason.
