I've long called the 1963-'67 Chevrolet C2 Corvette one of the most beautiful American cars ever built, but the 1963 Split-Window coupe is the one that has earned a very special place in the hearts of Corvette enthusiasts, as Chevy only built it for 1 year.

As far as an iconic American Classic. I recently purchased my first 1963 Vette convertible. Because it was in pretty bad shape, I opted to cover it with a tarp for the trip back home. I had 2 people that I met at a gas station that largely could recognize the silhouette under the tarp.

By far the most beautiful Corvette ever built, and my second favorite after the C5. One thing is nearly indisputable though, this car is the most beautiful vehicle ever built. The 57 Chevy is the only other car that even comes close.

The fact that you stated that going near 100 in this would be too risky, is why people cry so much when their food order is slightly wrong. It's an impressive and beautiful car, shame that the people that drive them are scared because there's no abs.

If I lived where there were big stretches of straight empty roads(think rural Kansas or Texas) I'd take that beast up to 100mph every time it went out. Around where I live the interstates are too crowded, too many people, too many cops. The rural secondary roads around here aren't straight enough/have horrible sight lines/too many people again.

That's why I like pure stock drags. People race these kind of cars all out.

Older video, the most Beautiful Corvette ever built, the Styling is Timeless, interior design, everything is perfect, Chevrolet will never build anything close to the 1963 Split Window, CLASSIC SPORTS CAR ❤.

Something about that Sebring Silver that these cars came with, it showed off the lines the best. I'd have picked that color with that same red interior as the feature car, if redline tires were option in 1963 I'd have those too with the knock off wheels.

Could of used at least a five second view of the engine compartment. But this is and always will be my golden car. I did own a Mustang (1989 5.0 LX hatchback) which was my silver car.

This car is still one of the most beautiful ever built, IMHO. Its style will never lose its appeal. On the other hand, having driven a '63, I can attest to the fact that the split rear window is just awful when driving the car. I would benefit from a modern rearview camera that would substitute a view screen in place of the rearview mirror, not that an owner would do such a thing. They had the right idea with the one-piece rear window. I have watched several episodes of FantomWorks and see how beloved the split read window is. Dan has even developed a split rear window roof prosthesis (so to speak) that can convert a convertible into a coup! It looks pretty convincing, too.

Its funny how THE best corvette was the one with the shorter production run....yeah you can arguee the 53 oruginal was shorter but the C1 was built from 53 to 63 on its various iterations

Maybe Bill Mitchell liked "the split" but Zora Arkus-Duntov did not. I have often wondered how one of these would handle with modern tires. Or how a modern Corvette would handle with narrow, bias-ply whitewalls.
