The blending of the welded seams on the receiver is amazing! I always thought that bluing would leave the seams more obvious, but you can't see anything at all on this receiver. Awesome work!

One in a kit right here in my smith room ... time to build. Where is it? My grenade pad definately grenaded. Also, since AoA has went downhill (where I got mine), they cheat you a functional mag for regular 762x39 use. Great vid!

That's great Type III and the slab side mag steals the show.

looking forward to this since your r/AK47 post the other day. Excellent video John! Poland began making the milled receiver AK 47 during 1957-58 under licence from the Soviet Union. The first models were designated the PMK for Pistolet Maszynowy Kalasznikowa (Machine Pistol) for the full stock model. Milled receiver guns had laminated stocks and handguards and the pistol grips were solid hardwood. All had a good quality blued finish. Arsenal rebuilt examples are generally phosphated a medium grey color. In 1966, the terminology for the Polish AK was changed to KbK for Krotki Bojowy Karbabin Automatyczny Kalasznikowa

For some reason I had thought/heard somewhere that the dot matrix was some import stuff for when the kits were brought in. Don't hold me to this though because I cannot recall exactly where I got this info from lol

Nice gun buddy! I do appreciate it but one thing which is noticable, you name it Type 3 so far I know a bit about AK(s) it's Type 2 and here is the reason why: Issue of 1948/49: Type 1: The very earliest models, stamped sheet metal receivers, are now very rare. Issue of 1951: Type 2: Has a milled receiver. The barrel and chamber are chrome-plated to resist corrosion. Issue of 1954/55: Type 3: Lightened, stamped receiver variant.

Thanks for your reply but this is a Type 3 Milled AK47. The stamped sheetmetal AK's are called AKM, for AK Modernized.

Do you rust blue or caustic blue these? I’m building one now and the rust blue is my only option for the home build. Also what grit is that receiver finished to if you don’t mind me asking?

So what’s a KBK build going for these days if you can find the kit. I haven’t looked yet but I’m guess a good start would be Atlantic.

@ ya know I’ve been looking high and low for a mosin receiver. I have everything else, barrel, furniture, trigger group, and so on. Any idea where I can find one?
