From 1995-97 I drove a 66 Chevy C10 short bed/step side pickup in this exact color. It looked almost identical to this. It was my ONLY vehicle for nearly 2.5 years. It had a 250 inline 6cyl, with a powerglide, all stock and never overhauled, with over 125,000 miles when I bought it. It had been parked in the woods behind the owner's mother's home, because he couldn't afford to restore it. It was covered in a layer of sticks and leaves. He started it up for the first time in nearly a year, and it smoked like crazy at first. I drove it to a DIY car wash and cleaned it off. I drove it to a muffler shop, had them put new pipes and muffler, and had them install 4 cheap shocks at the same time. I replaced the water pump shortly afterwards, and bought a new battery. After that, I drove it every day, even on a few trips in mid winter to Atlantic City and to Baltimore. I put new brake shoes onto its 4 wheel, manual drum brakes, which performed magnificently in a few close situations where some idiot locked up his brakes in front of me, or cut in front of me etc. I had to slam the pedal to the floor and skid to a fast stop once, but it stayed straight, and stopped so quickly from 50mph to 0 that the guy behind me almost ran into me, except that I aimed it towards the shoulder in time! Finally after 31 years, it swallowed a valve at 160,000 miles, after being driven with unleaded gas for 15 years, in an engine that needed lead to lube it's valves seats.

This truck will wind up a park and polished garage queen, will not be driven, pretty sad, that's what happens when they are so over restored.
