Күн бұрын

This is the first video in my 1964 Ford Econoline restoration project. When I purchased the van it had a tired 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine that had seen better days. This is not a how to video but I hope it helps to give you an idea of the processes involved in restoring an older vehicle. Thanks for Watching ManCave Mayhem Don't forget to Like, Share, Subscribe and just remember "I'm just a man in a cave causing mayhem!'

Great job on resurrecting the old van. I was always wondering about it when I would see it in your videos. A friend had one of those when I was in HS. That one brings back a lot of old memories. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Thanks for sharing your progress.

Looking around your garage, you seem to be well equipped, and lots of fun toys. A Jack of all trades. Wishing you well with the van. Looking forward to the completion.

That’s pretty neat how they stamped the firing order onto the motor for reference.

Awesome video! I’m looking to purchase a 64 econoline for my dad as a birthday surprise. He has told me so many stories about when he had one as kid. And I wanna do this for him so bad. Are there any certain parts you had difficulty finding or could you share some websites that helped you? I would really appreciate it.

Dakota Maddy There are many parts available for these vans as they share engines with the falcons and I think early mustangs. I went to Macs antique auto parts they have a section for the Econoline vans. I hope this helps.👍🏻

Can you ponder the idea of somehow putting a more current manual transmission on your new 6 motor ? Im talking about a 4th (or overdrive) gear . Every time I drive one of these Vans I can feel the engine begging for a 4th gear
@ManCaveMayhem
@ManCaveMayhem 3 жыл бұрын
I love the pureness of the three On the tree. It can definitely be done I know there’s some people that have done a 302 engine swap with an automatic transmission that makes a huge difference. They also put a Ford 9 inch in the rear end. But I think I’m going to just keep this one in stock.
@tonyrandazzoe8210

@@ManCaveMayhem The thing about automatics is they are boring ( to me) and not original . And too I think Ford doesnt make a three (with a 4th) overdrive thats side shift mounted . If they did then the reverse on the tree could be sacraficed and add in another shifter for reverse . Otherwise the one I drove yesterday was screaming at 55 MPH (even tho it didnt mind at all) - Gas was cheap in the 60s and engine longevity wasnt a concern like it is now . When I converted my 66 GMC 292 6 cyl over to an 80s overdrive (GM made)transmission it literally saved the show and the truck likes it .
