Gibson should wake up and start making this model Firebird again but either with 2 P90's or 2 PAF's. That would be an amazing sounding guitar.

It would sound like any other Gibson. Part of what makes the Firebird unique are the Firebird pickups, which are NOT mini humbuckers. Nothing sounds quite like a true Firebird pickup, but I see your point. It'd be cool to have a choice of pickups from the factory. I don't think they've ever sold that many of them to justify it on the bottom line. I think they lost money on the original run of Firebirds because they were so expensive to make.

Its sad that these guitars and their pickups are so invisible to players. 17 comments? In two years? These are real edgy pickups and because no one super famous made much impact on guitar players. Clapton did use one at one time, but it just doesn't click with anyone. Its like if Jimmy Page didn't play one then they're not interested.
