I agree, though Andy is right about the Christ press conference, lol. However, overall John probably never felt out of control in many conversations (from what I've seen), and his wit was tip top. I love the interview on youtube where he tells the interviewer "we all know you're a nicotine addict!", just cracks me up, his little mini stinging comments.

Andy Northall - You call that inquisitory trial A CONVERSATION!! He was under horrible pressure, death threats from all the bible belt psycho bigots and the good Christians of kkk.Are you not the land of the free speech? In that witch hunt John kept cool ,explained what he had meant (he could have said: tv is more popular than Jesus, it would have been equally true and none would have blinked! Go and see his WHOLE statement.

I highly doubt that. While very confident on the surface, deep down he had a lot of insecurities. "I got a chip on my shoulder that's bigger than my feet. I can't talk to people that I meet!" That's from I'll Cry Instead, which John wrote.

John is simply the greatest artist ever. He's a genius. An icon. 1 of the all time greatest songwriters. He's part of Lennon and McCartney. He formed the greatest and most successful band ever. He wrote some of the greatest tracks ever. Strawberry Field's Forever, A Day In The Life (with McCartney) is the greatest track ever recorded. John Lennon Airport in Liverpool. Strawberry Field's garden in Central Park in New York. He wrote Imagine, a song everyone knows. REMEMBER LENNON ✌️ 🍏⭐🕯️

I miss you, John. They were great role models with respect to the fact that it wasn't just their music that was unique and appreciated, it was their ability to be their own persons that no amount of fame or anyone else changed. They didn't play up to anyone, yet maintained charm and respect. True gentlemen who held their own. Great role modeling there, speaking from their influence on me and the generation I watched during my preteen and teen years at the time. They gave us the freedom to be real, because they were. All the Beatles were so genuine, straight forward, down to earth. So very real. They never worshiped their fame and success. They remained true and honest to themselves and what they truly were. Unlike the fame and glory seeking stars of today and the past. Especially in recent years, and the fraudulent so called artists, mostly in hip hop and rap where money fame and glory is the main goal, Not artistic achievement.

It's amazing to take the John Lennon in this interview and the you look at the same John Lennon being interviewed in like 1970 or 1970 and you have like two different people. The transformation is incredible!!!

I agree, it's like watching two different men. I think the lsd changed his personality. Cynthia mentions it in her book, which is a very engaging read. She knew him better than anyone.

The interviewer did a really fine job with this interview and John looked pretty relaxed. He had the chance to male a good number of seripus points besides his characteristic humour and quick wittedness. A pleasure to watch.

This is a great interview as the reporter came up with NEW questions rather then the same 20 questions (except for the "When did you meet Paul" one)

"We're agnostic about sport" 😂 John fully realized that sport and religion are very similar: as long as people root for a certain team they don't question the institution itself.

This guy is a great interviewer, him and John had a great chemistry and never interrupted John and seemed really engaged - John is so comfortable here and smiled a lot. I think that John liked that the guy laughed at the "right times" with his jokes and I'm guessing that John get a kick that he had talked to Mimi.

This is one of the only times I've seen where the interviewer asked thoughtful and insightful questions and sure enough, Lennon responds in kind. Some of those early interviewers were trying their best to either get controversial comments from them or asked stupid questions about their hair.

Wish somebody would dig out The Beatles' film out-takes----bet there's a lot of fun to be seen as they did (as John says here) "an hour of rubbish" before they got the right take for each scene....

Tell you what's weird. I'm 34. I've loved the Beatles since I put 2 & 2 together with Ringo Starr narrating my Thomas the Tank Engine video but I rarely watch them doing much. It's difficult to watch black and white television and see actual people being filmed in black and white rather than black and white people on TV, if that makes sense. Also, whenever I've watched the Beatles do anything, it's been from the perspective of seeing adults through the eyes of a child. As one gets older I suppose we start to see these adults get younger and younger as we ourselves age. I'm seeing, for the first time, John as a very young adult. It's sweet, really.

This interviewer did a great job not asking nonsense questions that's probably why John was relaxed with his questions but when journalists asked him nonsense questions he would put them in their place by insulting them with great humour

I would also recommend his third book, published posthumously, entitled. 'Skywriting by Word of Mouth'. It has some auto-biographical material, with John's wonderful wit and humor. And contains his drawings and some poetry. It's very impressive.

It feels so great watching him being interviewed by respectful journalists. He even talked about being agnostic (which is not 100% truth). Putting my madness and obsession aside, he was quite interesting to talk to.
