Looks good guys! I had 350lbs springs on my 66 El Camino and while the stance was nice it got annoying constantly having to adjust the coilovers because the springs sagged, I have a rather old kit from about 2013 or so and perhaps things are different now but regardless I ended up going to a 550lbs spring and have had no issues with spring sag, QA1/Viking and I'm sure a few others make the conical springs in different weights but also different heights, you can get a 450lbs spring in a 10 inch tall and an 8 inch tall, so if the springs sag being undersprung maybe give that a go, its a shame it isnt advertised more and they just sell a one size fits all kit because I didnt know about the different length springs for a long time

Thanks James, what your elco all about?SBC? BBC? stick? auto? Always wanted to get one! As for the comet, far so good. We’ll see next year when I drive it some more if it continues to lower… but I doubt it. Wow, Good to know information, it is a little crazy with just how many parts/ pieces they have available, one of the reasons they can offer custom kits to people!

Sold the shell, if you go back to the 66 convertible series, you’ll see us stripping the engine and transmission from the Versailles for the mustang. Also still have the 9inch from it for a project in the future

@@Theoldcarchannel. Crap. I've been wanting to see someone do something with a Versailles for years. I had a Granada back in the mid to late 70's and upgraded the suspension using some HiPer Mustang components that allowed it to handle better than a lot of Cameros and even a Datson 280ZX. Never had the money to really go all out with it. While the Versailles were overpriced, I always wanted one for the whole cheap Lincoln aspect. I worked at a Ford garage when they were manufactured and sold and got to drive a lot of them. They did ride nice and if you got one with the right color they did look pretty nice as well, especially for the times.

If ya don’t mind me asking, what wheel/tire size did you run in the front? My son and I will be taking on this project as soon as I order the parts. The stance is perfect. Thanks again for all the great vids.
@Theoldcarchannel.
@Theoldcarchannel. Жыл бұрын
Hello, I believe the wheels are 14x6 (they are disc brake style wheels, drum brake wheels will not work with a factory disc brake upgrade). Tires are 235 60 14. BFGs. Thank you for watching! Super happy with the stance as well! Totally chances the look of the car!

@@Theoldcarchannel. Thank you, gonna get what I need ordered up, and get father and 15 yr old son back on the project. I’m running 15”x6” up front, hoping I may not have to massage the fenders, but we’ll see. Watched all your Comet vids, and they helped us a lot. Thank you guys again for doing what you do.
@Theoldcarchannel.
@Theoldcarchannel. Жыл бұрын
@@kevmo73 thank you for following along and watching the videos! If you want to run this low of stance you will need to massage the fender lip. As for the tire size you’ll need to do some calculations to figure out how much side wall you want to run. Other than that, enjoy the time wrenching with your son👍 Mike

Gabbs Nevada. If the price is reasonable then I would pay for the shipping but I don’t know about the import type stuff. If you’re not too far from the border maybe you could put it in the trunk of a car and then ship it to me in the US.
