It could be the 48 tram route that goes through Barkers Rd Hawthorn, other scenes include Power St, Burwood Rd, the Grange Rd Bridge, part of the Yarra Blvd perhaps and either the Haymarket roundabout or the top of Victoria Pde near Gisborne St?

It’s like that over here Philadelphia gates Pittsburgh big rival. Even in prison they hate each other. But it’s the black guys white guys get along with whit guys from philly. Yes, 0:28 is Liz Harris and Leonard Teale in an episode three years before they married. I remember the episode where Terry McDermott’s character, Frank Bronson, was killed. I believe it was broadcast in August of 1966. It was a big moment on Australian TV.

I've got DVD sets that cover the periods from 1967 to 1971...... very nostalgic and trippy. Melbourne back then appears to have more open space, plenty of parking, even near CBD areas, and more family homes with yards. It's a great escape, watching these and being reminded what Melbourne used to look like 😃👍

Hey Richard, Some of that music sounds like it's from the KPM music catalogue,?? used a great deal in English shows of the late 60's early 70's and cartoons around that era.

1:26 possibly Yarra Street Hawthorn over the railway line prior to the third line added and the bridge rebuilt in the early 1970s? The car would be turning out of a dead end for the shot.

@@ianmontgomery7213 I think you’re right, we’ll spotted. The early Griffith (named after the American who fitted a 289 and thereby changed TVR forever I recently found out) models had circular Cortina style rear lights, not looking anywhere near as right as this car does. Thanks for the response Ian.

I can see where Matlock Police got the idea for a two door police car, just love that Studebaker. Very wide car, you could probably fit four adults in the front (bench seat) and four in the back.

This was peak Melbourne if you ask me, when urban planning was good and there was lots of open space. Now it's all about cramming as many people in and no investment in the infrastructure to carry the extra burden and our living standards have been in decline ever since.
@maddyg3208
@maddyg3208 3 жыл бұрын
There's now more public open space in inner Melbourne than in the 60s. Roads and railways have been continually upgraded. And if there there were no "cramming" of people into existing suburbs (urban consolidation), Melbourne's suburban sprawl would now be twice as big.

They have turned marvellous Melbourne into an overpopulated shithole. They had a much better idea about town planning 60 years ago than they do today. Hoddle grid, wide roads, terrace houses, extensive hub and spoke rail system that went north and south, east and west as well, now torn up,
