In many third world countries this is almost a regular practice; used engines/transmissions are cheap in Europe and it costs much less to swap a BMW engine into your beat up merc than to overhaul the engine; they don't do a professional job but the cars work as taxis day and night.

I Love this car. I really like Mercedes Diesel. I would try to swap a om603 turbo. With a Dieselmeken pump and Turbo, 500 hp are possible.

A lot of British, French, German, Swedish and Italian cars copied American cars during the fifties, sixties and seventies. This is a German 57 Chevy when you get down to it. Even the Ford Consul and Zephyr were designed in Detroit.

This is a project I will start on after my Lancia Delta HF is finished! My dad used to own the model after this one with the larger upright headlights. My CL600 project has finished end of 2020, now the Delta will take a few years to finish, can’t wait to start this project as well!! Respect man 😎

If you’re wondering about the BMW engine, I think Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar mills are going to be the next big thing in hot rodding. Especially with the Rover V8 no longer in production.

Yes really really really don't understand the bummer engine part....turbo bandit anyone? The M103 and 104 are zooooo turbo friendly.....why and the 722.6 gearbox is easy and very strong! But mooi swap in An oil hungry bummer engine, that's just wrong.
