These videos are the best I've seen in the way he explains... Only drawback is that he has totally convinced me that I have to go find the worst mustang I can and try this... I will watch the whole series several times first but I know I am gonna be neck deep in the future... Great vids!

Looks professional👍 at this point of restoration. Every rusty part cutted out and now is new, will improve the final work.

Thanks for the video, question. From where did you bought the quater panels?

I need a portion of the passenger side sail panel. I cant find one any where unless I was to buy a new roof skin. Any leads on one?
@JoDaddysGarage3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen some parts cars on marketplace.

I notice the mustang is on jack stands, do you have to take the car off the stands for proper fitment and welding, or can you weld the quarter sitting on the stands?
@JoDaddysGarage7 жыл бұрын
I had no issues with having it on the stands.

What was the reason for putting led there in the first place? What does it do?
@JoDaddysGarage4 жыл бұрын
It's what they used at the factory. It acted as a leveling agent for the welded area.

sorry to revive an old video, but would it be a bad idea to weld the new quarter where the original seam is? where it meets the sail panel where the original lead filler was? if you need a visual of what I'm talking about check my last video. trying to decide the best and easiest place to weld. figured it'd be better there since i have to all-metal that seam anyway.
@JoDaddysGarage9 жыл бұрын
callofgeorge That works. The challenge is getting it under the roof panel.
@callofgeorge9 жыл бұрын
Jo Daddy's Garage oh, no i don't mean slipping it under and using the whole panel. i mean making my cut right along the seam where the roof panel is. so the weld is in the valley or channel. i'll be trimming similar to how you did it. i was just thinking of making the cut higher so the welds are closer together (original and the new ones i'll make).

callofgeorge Oh, sorry. That works as well. Really up to end user to determine what works best.

I am getting ready to take this on with my 67 Mustang Coupe....my rookie question is, how do you maintain the integrity of the body lines....I'm so scared that I won't be able to get it back together straight.....should you do one piece at a time? or am I overthinking it? What do you use as a reference without the original doors?
@JoDaddysGarage7 жыл бұрын
It's a lot of test fitting. Use the doors that will be on the car if possible. Haven't worked with 67 panels, so I don't know how well they fit. Take your time.

Jo Daddy's Garage I'm still working through it and I'm close to start cutting the quarter panels Do you have a video that shows your technique on how to make your cuts to both the sail panel and new quarter panel I really don't want to mess this up lol . Are you on social media anywhere? Or is there anyway I can send you a private message? I'm new to this and I am kind of on my own....I would like to share the story behind my car.

Removing the lead cover what is below
@my83roadster4me5 жыл бұрын
Why did they put lead in there? Why couldn't it just be welded then filler over it to smooth it out?
@JoDaddysGarage5 жыл бұрын
Back then, that was a cheap filler.
@raymondzulauf27494 жыл бұрын
Don"t cut out that piece in front lower quarter, panel put it under the that tab and weld inside the quarter. Make sure its tight to the rocker, take the extra time

I always thought the sail panel came with the quarter panel as 1 piece.
@JoDaddysGarage11 жыл бұрын
Nope. The Camaros are built like that. Most other cars have a lead seam at the top of the "sail" panel.
