I love the original wheel treatment. You can't buy anything that would look any better.

Nice looking car. A little info though, there is no such thing as a numbers matching engine for a 65-67 442 though. The only production number on the engine is a production sequence number that is totally unrelated to the VIN number. That number is stamped on the right side head behind the alternator. If the heads have been removed the number will be gone. That and you can change the block and use the original heads also. The only way to really tell is if you have the Protect-o-plate for that car.

Can you talk more on the protect-o-plate? Thank you for sharing your knowledge

@@blackbelt524 If you have the protect-o-plate it will have the engine production sequence number of the engine on it. That number is found on the front of the right side head, if the heads have been removed it could be on the back of the left side head as they are interchangeable. Like I said above, you could have the original heads and not have the original block as they do come apart. This only applies to 442's from 1965 to 1967, maybe 1964 also but I don't know. 1965 442's will start with number 00001, 1966 442's will start with 100001 and 1967 442's will start with 200001 on the heads. There is an online source for this, oldsjunction.

400", 4 speed, dual exhausts in '65... they changed it several times... last was 4 cylinders... sadly... '64 442 was 330" cop car option... late '65 tripower carb.s became available and in '66... no name change...

Hey that gauge behind the shifter is a vacuum gauge
@buzzwaldron61954 ай бұрын
Nope...it's a tach... 3,000 RPMs at 60 MPH, if accurate, says 3.90 rear end ratio... so this thing will SCOOT! 442s got the Hurst shifter... Starfire with 425" got the crap GM shifter with pull bar for Reverse...

My neighbor totaled his 64 tripower GTO in the fall of 1967. He bought the twin to this car, 1965 black 442 4 peed 3:90 posi with parchment interior from the original owner with 20,000 miles. It ran better than the GTO, so much better he collected 3 speeding tickets in less than 6 months. Lost his license and at 19 couldn't afford muscle car insurance anymore. Sold the 442 and bought a beautiful 1956 Nomad 327 300HP 4 speed. Then on to Nam, didn't last 5 months and his best friend bought the 56 from his parents. Fond memories of riding in all 3 of those iconic cars in the late 60's.
