Back to Oldsmobile for one more thing, Lou, I had the honor to Judge a car show the company I work for sponsored in Mt Vernon NY about 10 years ago, and a guy had a 70 XSS or XS Cutlass convertible black on black, loaded w every option, air, power windows, am/fm, 8 track tape on the floor factory w Oldsmobile on the tape lid, instructions attached, car was perfect, 19,000 original miles, now there was vettes and Camaros and road runners there, well I gave this guy best in show, the guy was crying cause he never took first in a show before, you should've heard all those guys grumbling, I loved it, cause I have the only 73 Grand Prix at most NY car shows day two w factory sunroof, aftermarket spokes and Vogue tires, being individuals in life is important, how many Camaros and Chevelles can you look at

My dad had 3 Oldsmobiles, I never had one. He had a 1964 Dynamic 88 station wagon in dark green, a 1967 Vista Cruiser in light almond with wood paneling, and a 1978 4 door sedan in gold. All great cars.

Loved watching this. My dad had the '65 Olds 442 Cannibal from Kansas City sitting out back (black and silver). Never got to drive it on the street. He said it was due to the rear end. It had been raced at the track. I wanted to drive it into my high school parking lot so bad. He wound up having to sell it. I wish people never had to sell their beloved cars. He also had two of the F-85s. I believe they were both 1964 (one light blue, one gold). He had a couple of the late 60's Cutlasses, and even an Omega. LOL. The last Olds he bought was the 1970 Olds Cutlass Rallye 350 ... the canary yellow one with the rear window louvers. I'm so glad the love of Oldsmobile was passed down to me. Thanks for posting, and congratulations to Buzz. That is a beautiful piece of work.

Wow, amazing car! My parents had a 66 Olds 98 and I had a 67 Cutlass and then a 64 Olds Dynamic 88 in the day! That is an awesome vehicle. It's amazing how inexpensive certain upgrades are. The SS option for my 63 Impala was $120-something and the lady didn't do it. Imagine that. The trunk treasures and back stories are priceless! I heard at one time the Olds Cutlass was the #1 selling car in America. Thank you for sharing!!!

My Dad had a 1966 Cutlass Supreme 4 door hardtop. It was red with a black vinyl top. It was powered by the 330 cubic inch V8. It also had the ultra high compression with a 4 barrel. Oldsmobile rated it at 325 HP. I used to wash and wax it all the time. In the fall of 1967 on the way home from church there way a brand new 1968 Plymouth Road Runner riding our bumper as we were getting on the freeway. When we got to the bottom of the on ramp the Road runner shot over into the left lane. My Dad said here he goes, I thought he meant the Road Runner was going to take off, but no Dad floored the Cutlass and the Road Runner couldn't our run us. He never got passed our back door handle. By the end of that race the speedometer on the Olds was buried past 120. My step mother was screaming for Dad to slow down and I had a grin on my face that took about two hours to go away.

I found a 66 Cutlass 4-dr hardtop several years back at a auction in Southern Indiana. Buying the car saved it from becoming a demolition derby car. Its white with black painted top and red interior. 83,000 original miles and it purs like a kitten.

$156.02 for the 442 option, maybe with some hard bargaining the Oldsmobile dealer would come down to $156 even. A convertible in Arizona is the perfect antidote for a winter that won't end up North. Thanks Buzz and Lou!

My older sister is 18 years older than I, and when she graduated from college she bought her first new car, '65 Olds Cutlass convertible in Mojave Mist color with matching interior. When she brought it home (I was only 5) she took myself and a neighboor kid on a ride with the top down. She gave me the 2nd set of keys and said when I turned 16 she would give me the car. Sure enough when I did finally turn 16 she gave me the car. I still have the original window sticker and I think it was about 4,200 dollars which was a lot back in '65. But when I went away to college I gave it back to her. I got it when it was 11 years old with 52k miles, and I put about 10k on it during the two years I owned it. I'd love to have the car back again but I don't know what she did with it. Last I heard she was driving a BMW Z4. But my heart belongs to the '65 Olds Cutlass 442. Thanks for letting me tell my story. Great memories!!

@@loucostabile I did some checking. And in 1964, the 4-4-2 was 4 barrel, 4 speed, dual exhaust. 330 c.i. 310hp In 1965, 4-4-2 was 400 cubic inches, 4 barrel, dual exhaust. The W-30 package was rare, in 1965, with the 350hp dual air induction. But with automatic, 3 speed or 4 speed. _____________ I enjoy all your videos. I envy all the car shows you can attend. Beautiful.....I had a '66 442 at one time myself. According to our Local Olds dealer back in the day, he said when they first came out in '64, the "442" designation stood for "4bl, 4spd, dual exhaust" so dual exhaust was "factory" on a true 442 Cutlass. Later the 442 Cutlass had the option of an automatic trans, so Olds then claimed that "442" stood for 400ci, 4bl, dual exhaust. Learned something new today, didn't you? ;-) Also...I don't remember the owner mentioning how many miles were on it. The odometer looked like it said 29,724, but it's probably at least 129,724, right? Was it restored or is this pretty much original?
