These commercials sure evoke memories of a more laid back time. I know the kids my age miss that too. Life was so much more simple. My brother had a paper route and bought the Polaroid Swinger. The person born in 1900 would beg to differ. To him the most high tech thing was the telegram and the phone you have to crank before you can use it. As for those who think today is so complicated the people of the 2080s will be laughing at those who lived in the 2020s Those old fashion bulky V Reality head wear, primitive computers that have the buffering crap. Streaming channels that take a minute or more to load. Everyone seems to hate some one for a million and one reasons.
@jbaker73112 жыл бұрын
@@frankreynolds445 Obviously every generation has seen advancements and technology just as we do now. Someone born in 1900 did not have the ability to see the future any more than we can. Everything they experienced was their reality in real time and nothing more. Furthermore, every generation has it's own set of complications and life struggles. Your post has a bitter sounding edge. Maybe you misinterpreted mine. I was sharing my memories and how much I appreciate FredFix and the effort he puts into making these videos for us to enjoy. Stay positive,

Before using a blanket description of “more laid back” for 1965, consider the Vietnam War and the draft, riots, rising drug abuse - and realize that victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault had no place to turn. I understand a person’s warm feelings from their own memories. But the whole time was not more laid back.

1:10 I remember those Polaroid backing strips used to be all over the place after a graduation, or even sometimes at a wedding. People would just toss them on the ground until the SX-70 came out in 1975 with the rollers that pulled the photo away from the backing before it left the cartridge, so all the backings ended up getting thrown away with the empty cartridge. Of course, if you were a real slob, there was always the option of tossing the cartridge on the ground.

I bought a Polaroid Swinger camera back in '65 or '66. I loved it, although the photos sometimes had problems. Plus, you had to use a stinky costing solution on the prints afterwards and it was hard to get a smooth finish. I still have a few of those photos. Wallet-sized. Fairly decent image quality. I also liked the jingle "Meet the Swinger". The arrangement style reminds me of the early Up With People songs, which I performed with (on electric guitar) in freshman year in high school, 68-69. Those were great years.

Anybody remember the poster with the astronaut saying “today’s urine is tomorrow’s tang”? Still makes me laugh. 😊

That looks like a young Ali McGraw in the Swinger commercial.

Is that Ali MacGraw in the Polaroid Swinger commercial?

it would be great to watch a whole segment of old broadcasting, say like two straight hours of TV of a given day of 1965. Just as it was broadcasted, with the show cut down, only commercials and bumpers

Got a Polaroid Swinger for 8th grade graduation. (1966) I recall having to spread some nasty smelling chemical on the photograph or it would turn brown.

Born the very end of that year. I wish pop was still only in glass bottles instead of plastic. I remember helping my mom bring the cartons filled with empty glass bottles back to the grocery store for recycling. We all recycled long before it was political to do so.

Everything tasted better in glass. If you call it "pop" you must have grown up west of the Susquehanna.
