I love these cars. The wheels are not hubcaps or wires, they are the rare Pontiac 8 lug wheels, where the rim bolts on with eight lug nuts, and the whole center of the wheel is actually the brake drum, made of aluminum with an iron liner. They were optional, and very cool looking.

I remember building models back in the 70's. One thing that stands out is how the exhaust system in this model is built right in. Back then, it was a separate piece, and the challenge was to get them attached to the manifolds. I liked it better that way, as it was more realistic. Furthermore, the greatest challenge was not getting glue on the windshield. GREAT BUILD!

Some kits are molded in, some are separate. Depends on the kit and it's origins.

@hpiguy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!
@kristinstelljes33053 жыл бұрын
Short answer, yes, it's the same kit. Originally a Bonneville, molds were altered to make a 2+2 in the '90s. Recently restored back to a Bonneville and includes many parts that were deleted in the '90s.
@chassegallerie29103 жыл бұрын
@@kristinstelljes3305 Besides the parts that had been removed to make the 2+2, what are the differences between the two cars?
@randyhutcherson56373 жыл бұрын
@@chassegallerie2910 In the real world the Catalina and the 2+2 were on the shorter 121 inch wheelbase. The Bonnie was on a 126 inch wheelbase. In those days Pontiac, Olds, and Buick had 2 sizes of full size cars: big and bigger. So, the AMT 2+2 model is incorrect because it is based on a reworked Bonneville kit. The other differences are the fender badges, due to being reworked, and some of the custom parts were left out at the time.
@chassegallerie29103 жыл бұрын
@@randyhutcherson5637 I see. Thanks for the clarification. The 2+2 is still a cool kit to build none the less.

@hpiguy3 жыл бұрын
The decals say 421, so I did it that way. I'm sure you can paint it orange and tell folks it's a 327. 99.9999% of people will never know.
@randyhutcherson56373 жыл бұрын
The Parisienne was strictly for the Canadian market. To keep costs down they used Chevrolet mechanicals, engines, and transmissions. The U.S. cars had Pontiac engines, which were different shades of blue depending on year. The kit engine could actually be any Pontiac V8 as Pontiac didn't have a small block/big block like other companies, just different bore and stroke. But, it is supposed to represent the top 421 from 1965.
