Saw the Bruins and Rangers at the Garden on Dec 3, 1966. It was a 2-2 tie and Orr got an assist on the Bruins first goal by Bucyk - great memory.

Orr was pure gold when he played in the NHL. Montreal won all those cups during the 60's and 70's because they had the best shut down defensive forwards in the NHL with Claude Provost and then, Bob Gainey.

Never was such a thing as an original 6. The 6 team era was only from 1945 to 1966. The NHL went through so many teams and changes up to 1945. Only baby boomers who think the world started when they were born would think those 6 teams were the original. I am 70 years old and remember the 60's games, but never used the term "original 6" because I knew NHL history.

Quite a few of the Bruins wound up on expansion teams as Boston beefed up it's lineup and became a powerhouse. Schock, Connolly, Lonsberry...

Boston born in 1960 this was when I started playing and watching hockey with my dad. If I wasn't on the ice we were playing street hockey everyday, Bobby Orr was huge in this city back then, espo, Orr, cashman, hodge, bucyk

Every time Orr came to Toronto he was booed and I could never understand why. He was an amazing player.

It amazes me that the Habs gave themselves the long change in the 1st and 3rd periods at the Forum back then. Also interesting that the clock counted up to 20:00 and not down. Was this typical at the time?

@@mancunianmartin558 Makes sense, but in this era of the Forum the home team had two periods of long changes and the visiting team only one. I think in later years they moved the visiting team bench to the other side of centre ice so both teams had two periods of long changes, before finally they put the benches beside each other and went with the short changes.

Before the Black Hawks gave up on Phil Esposito and just had to have Gilles Marotte. Boston's Ron Schock and Montreal's Jim Roberts were drafted by the Blues in the expansion draft. Both became key players. Wayne Connolly went MN and scored 35 goals, the first expansion player to score 30 in a season.

Back when the flow of the game was Great and the Refs weren't calling foolish penalties Every minutes so many teams now not enough Good officiating to go around i realize the game Has changed a lot and faster also. But so many Questionable penalties watching the game i Love so much in 2022 it's pretty frustrating.😞✌

No. The Forum was upgraded during the late spring, and all through the summer, in time for the 68, 69 season.
