My first Newport had dog dishes and body color (turquoise) wheels. I thought they were all like that. When I bought this one it had the full wheel covers and it just didn't look right to me so I spent a lot of money on the dog dishes because it turns out they are very rare! Most people paid the extra $40 for wheel covers, so very few Newport's had the "poverty caps" and they are now hard to find and expensive when you find them.

About 20 years ago, I added a mirror to the passenger side of my 1966 Riviera! You are correct, it does not do much (can't see well out of it). Because optically, it is a driver side mirror. Looks good though!
@DaveTurnerBassGuitar9 ай бұрын
yes, when I ordered the passenger side mirror, I didn't realize that they didn't use concave/convex glass back in those days (whichever one it is . . .). so I installed it, and discovered it's basically a "go/no-go" device. You either see the road, or you see "something", so don't change lanes . . . it's slightly better than nothing, but not by much.

@@DaveTurnerBassGuitar ot appears from the video, you take care/upgrade it where/when you can. I think a better intake, 750 edelbrock or another low - fuss carb and about a 2.5 in. Dual exausht exiting under the rear bumpers, with those square Mopar chrome tips would get enough power gains in which I assume is a 383. Depending on the rear gear ratio, it may be like a 2.73 or highway oriented. That never helps a heavier car in takeoff situations, but good above say like 45
@DaveTurnerBassGuitar9 ай бұрын
The plans are to get an Eddy AVS2 that flows 650 with matching intake, 2 1/2" dual exhaust with the correct turn downs (not chrome tips), and upgrade the rear axle to 3.23:1. If for some reason in the future I ever have to tear into the engine, I might consider going to 750cfm if I also do some head work, bigger cam, and factory HiPo exhaust manifolds or headers. 750 cfm on a stock LoPo 383 would drown the engine and be a waste, IMO. Thanks for the comments.

It is missing the gold Chrysler Pentastar logo on the front fender. Also all the Chrysler automobiles I have had experience with the gas Guage showed,the gas amount with the power on or off in the car. My Plymouth Sundance did that, my sister's Baracuda did, and I could have swarn my neighbors 66 Newport, did too.
@DaveTurnerBassGuitar9 ай бұрын
Hi, the Pentastar is there, it’s just faded. 66 Chryslers don’t send 5v to the fuel sending unit unless the key is in the RUN position. So that fuel gauge moves every time you key on or off. Thanks for watching!

I read that comment a lot. My family members had six Chryslers from a 1964 300K to a ‘’77 New Yorker, some bought new and others used, and never had a ballast resistor go out. Is it because we live in the relatively dry climate is San Diego?

that 383 with a 2 bbl stromberg,270 hp,with 516 heads has a very small cam only 392 degrees of lift.later in 1968 chrysler had the lift increased to aprox 435/430. if you put a 4 bbl with the small cam you will loose a bunch of power. research and be careful when i was young 40 years ago i did the same thing. read get an old motor manual and check those specs on the timing,cam and your distributor. that small cam has a very tiny ramp on it. good luck with that beast its a real beauty. i have got a 1969 dodge coronet 440 that i put a 440 30 over in it and it goes like hell.good on feul if you can behave. take care of that awesome c-body .
