What a cool concept for a series, not constraining yourself to one series or style of racing, but instead to a single year. Keeps the content varied, and really captures how drivers in that era would actually do this. Jetsetting around the world and driving anything with wheels. Great stuff.

I feel Nacar Racing 2003 game by Papyrus is the most realistic game for doing pace laps, pittings, and overall racing. That is if you don't do IRacing. The newer modern Nascar games have taken out allot of this which I hate. I only have two of the modern Nascar games and they both do the same thing when racing AI. There is no actual pitting by the AI and we have a menu come up to do pit settings, close out the window, and game puts us back out ready to race, no actual pitting. I did allot of NR2003 many years ago, both AI and online and really enjoyed the game. There are many tracks and cars for the game, but there is a max limit of how many can be in the game menu at one time. Thanks for the video and the memories of my past racing with NR2003.

As always a completely gripping and thoroughly professional job by GPL. Total admiration for your effort to make this as historically accurate as possible, which makes watching Richie Axelson’s trials and tribulations even more enjoyable. Looking at the 1966 calendar one would assume that after the F1 World Championship, Richie would be present in the non championship races at Syracuse, the International Trophy and Gold Cup. Sadly qualifying for the Indy 500 clashes with Monaco, but I’ve no doubt that Ford would retain him for the World Sportscar rounds at Sebring, Monza, Spa, Nurburgring and of course Le Mans. It wouldn’t surprise me if Richie found a ride in the inaugural Can Am Series in September/October as the F1 circus would be in North America for the final two Grand Prix and it would be incredible to see the season end with victory in the last Nassau Trophy in the Bahamas in December. One can dream
@colinmarkwick1413 жыл бұрын
Jeez!! That was...intense. Really highlights how different oval racing is from road racing though, picking the right people to follow rather than just looking for an opportunity to impose your line onto an opponent. Richie's having a great start to the year, he seems to have ironed out the errors which cost him in'65 - there's a patience about him that wasn't there before.

Fabulous !! i have always had a soft spot for this classic racing of the 60's and other era's, . the juxtaposition of taking a car designed primarily to take a family shopping in elaborate style, and then strip it down, tinker with the imperfections, and go fang around a loop, I find really fascinating and appealing. I love in this mod that the AI seem to be quite evenly matched to the player.

Did the cars of this era actually reach those speeds? If so, that’s mind boggling! A full size Impala going 190+ mph…can’t quite wrap my head around that! It would make sense as the Daytona Charger in 1970 would be the first to break 200, but still…

Drove the living hey out of this back in the day. Ironically, you may have made it harder to win, not easier, by lowering the AI's difficulty. What I'd typically do is park right behind the fastest AI car, and, since it was just as fast as me through the entire lap, I would be able to remain there while we (and a few more behind) drove away from the rest of the field. The fact that they kept lifting halfway through the high-banks told me that you had the slider lower than 100%, and each time they did in front of you, you would have to slow down as well, porking your own momentum and losing tons of time over the course of the race. As a result the field remained bunched and you couldn't get to the front. If I started farther back I'd do the same thing, find Petty or Pearson or someone fast who had fallen back, and push them and myself back to the lead pack. But they were all too slow for you to make use of this strategy (if you got in front I noticed that they couldn't remain on your bumper, tending to fall back by ~half a second), and you couldn't quite get there despite your optimized pit stops.
