Has a worn Wrist Pin can hear it plain as day . The 6 hp Evinrude and Johnsons were rental motors all over the usa . They came with 2 blade props 6 X 7 1/4. After hundreds of hrs they develop wrist pin noise, but still Idle at 300 rpm in gear. They were the best and most bullet proof engines of all time. Certified Outboard tech 45 yrs

Oldie but goodie, one of the best trolling motors from past. Smooth and quiet idling, reliable and easy starting. I used one too and it never let me down! Now I have even smaller, 4hp model w/ internal tank.

That motor sounds good but needs a few more hours after the cleaning to run its best. Those, and their Johnson cousins are some nice engines. We ran them on a 19 ft square stern canoe for years with extended side plates (whaletail). It helped pick up the rear just a bit and helped with the stability at speed.

Awesome how it started first pull without any choke. Guess it must of been a nice warm day, and maybe you had put some Nulon "Start Ya Bastard" down the carby? Excellent video 💯😊

I put my 1966 fisherman on my 10ft Jon boat. It's twice the max rated horsepower but from my experience it isn't dangerous

I have the same motor. Rebuilt carb cleaned and reset points. Starts fine ,idles fine, but won't get a 12 small v bottom on plane? Any suggestions? Thanks love your videos!!
@edwardhill69454 жыл бұрын
The difference is yours is a V bottom, the one in the video is a flat bottom, (Jon boat). The V bottom means the boat sits deeper. 6hp is just not enough to get it out of the hole & on plane. I have the same motor, (‘77), on a 14’ Jon boat. My boat has 2 benches, & two padded seats, slightly heavier than this one. With almost no gas & by myself, it will just barely get on plane. Once up, I had it to 11.5mph. It would not get on step going into a moderate wind or waves, or with additional small (100lb) kid on board. You can try making sure most of the weight is rearward, but unfortunately, the only real solution is more HP. I also have an Evinrude 8HP, & it easily gets up with two adults

only way is tiller extention and you sit in the middle or remote steering.. i have a 12ft v with a 5.5 that will plane with steering wheel. or get a 9.9 of course

It will be even slower on War Eagle, it is heavier. You going to see War Eagle with peppy Mercury 25HP pretty soon here, once it gets warmer.

I have the '64 fisherman 5.5 and the small filter from inside the glass is broken in pieces and spare part is hard to find. I just added an inline fuel filter and all is good.

Its exceptable if it's metal even though, there is a filter in the fuel pump

I just found one these motors sitting in a barn for about 10 years. What are these motors worth in good running order?
@vojomatusenko6 жыл бұрын
Sell them for around $500.
@ct17625 жыл бұрын
about $350. you wont get anywhere near $500 unless it's been completely gone through with receipts and looks mint.
@ct17625 жыл бұрын
@Oscar Zamora Sounds about right. Incidentally, I haven't bought one yet that doesn't need atleast $50 in parts. If someone took that to a marina... even changing a fuel pump and lines thell charge you 2 hrs in labor. Crazy.
