Sweet machine! Lichen that bit of woodgrain. Found a nice enough 1970s GE clock radio that we keep in the kitchen tuned to WGY. Maybe the cord got yangle-tangled into that knot on the outside? They do get wiggly when you're not lookin'...

Of course, the clock works. Those Telechron movements have got to be bulletproof!

That's about as retro as it gets!! As if it's the "Back To The Future" of alarm ⏰ clock ⏰ radios 📻. I can just imagine the smell coming out of this when turned on, although it's probably solid state. This kind 👌 of looks like 👍 Bakelite plastic. Great 👍 internals, and fine circuitry. Your friend, Jeff.

That alarm was always such a jarring wake-up call!

It still is. I would much prefer to wake up naturally at the crack-of-noon myself. Thanks for the radio!

2:34 Bummer. In the time I was there, I had fairly heavy tube radios. People asked me if I was worried about them being stolen. I replied, "Not at all, and I'll know who they were. They'll be the ones hunched over with hernias..."

Nice. I wake up every day to a early 60's Zenith clock/AM radio. The clock mechanism works the same but the radio is a 5 tube model. I rebuilt it with the intention of selling it. However, it's better than the cheap modern alarm clock that we had, and I got rid of that one instead!

All replaced by phones, kind of sad. I have a 1980s alarm clock radio that i got for $8

@@Georgew2777 I never had a clock Radio in my life but when we were kids my brother would ask for a clock Radio almost every year when he was a teenager. I was a small boy so that was the last thing I would want for Christmas. My parents shopped through spiegal catalog and western auto. When I was 8 years old my dad got a job at General Mortors. He worked there from the mid 60s till they moved the plant.

Was it made in US?

I don't know. There aren't any obvious signs anywhere on it. The power transistor (the one in the heat sink) is marked Japan, but that doesn't mean much. I suspect by this time in the 1960's it was manufactured in Japan, but I could be wrong.
