I believe in this case MB = Maritime Band, since the lower shortwave frequencies were (and maybe still are?) used by ships for long-distance communications. This range just happens to overlap with two rarely used "tropical" shortwave broadcasting bands, which the dial lists in their designation by meters. It could also be used to receive the 160 meter ham radio band (1.8 - 2.0 MHz) and the expanded portion of the AM radio band that was added in the '90s (1.6 - 1.7).

I think you're right. I like how it receives CHU at 3.33 MHz. Thanks.

This radio was sold in the USA from 1971~1973 for $60 at the finest furniture and appliance stores around! The "DET" port they are calling "WAVE DETECTOR", not sure what that is neither, at first by name I'd think ext shortwave ant, however since it has audio out, I kinda tend to agree with you that it was for stereo / amplifier output...but then again, you could do the same thing with the ear plug jack? Maybe an accessory? More research needed! ~Jack, VEG

That's a very nice radio 📻. Can be found in thrift stores. Looks like 👍 battery 🔋 damage. The circuit boards look great 👍, and the speaker 🔊 is permanent magnet. Ya should check ✔ that this didn't affect the circuit boards. Too bad 👎 they don't make these anymore. Could use some De-Oxit 🐂 in the volume control potentiometer. I really like 👍 these speckled radios 📻. I don't think it's painted on, it's infused into the plastic. Did ya say this has a dial light? Has very good 👍 sound. Your friend, Jeff.
