That 98 Pillared Luxury Sedan was my favorite. They only were made from 1965 to 1970 in all GM luxury level cars. The 1966 - 1968 98 Luxury Sedans were my favorite years. Nowadays, all cars have the accessories that made cars in this era, a luxury brand.

They still had Jetstar in 1966? Must've been last go round. Then came 'Delmont'

Shorty and Blonde's sales pitch vocabulary must include: Rocket, 88 , Jet, Fire, Star, 442, Cutlass, Oldsmobile, 98, Luxury, power, 4 barrel, along with suspension, stabilizer mumbo jumbo...

Ninety/Eights were awesome cars. Nearly always better looking than the Cadillac.

The 442 stood for, 400, 4bbl and duel exhaust. You could however order a 4sp manual and that's how the confusion started. The numbers had nothing to do with the transmission!

Seems the meaning of the "442" insignia changed over the years, to whatever best fit the manufacturer and what they were offering. Thats why there is alot of confusion on this, as it depends which model year 442 one are referring to.

Never liked the sideskirts over the rear wheels on any vehicle. Makes them look sedate and mushy handling grandpa car. Wonder why GM put those on almost every top of the line model. The 98 too.
