Bitchin car. Looks pretty saveable. I love you guys doing these kinds of videos. Y'all are doing what all of us in our 50's now did as highschool kids for daily drivers. Of course they were a lot more plentiful back then. I cringe every time I think about how many of these complete cars we swiped parts off of in the wrecking yards, only for the rest of the perfectly fine car to be crushed later. Especially out here in CA they don't get rusted out. Hell a factory door for a 68 gto costs what we used to pay for a running 68 goat. Awesome to see you saving these cool cars.

Man I love those old Pontiacs and the 66 GP is one of the sweet ones I love the taillights on that year. That is a cool find my friend hope you treat her right and get her back going because by the looks of her she needs some TLC but has lot's of life left to her plus it's a Pontiac and the only thing I like better then a Pontiac is a old Mopar. You should check out Mortske Repair he just picked up a GP a few years older then that but it's in decent shape too. it's like the old Pontiacs are coming out of the woodwork these days.

uh it is idling fast because the choke never came off. you can planely see the butterfly is still closed the fast idle cam is engaged. if you manualy open choke it will idle down and smooth out.put a zip tie to hold it off when been warmed up a little. thanks for the video.

The electric choke is likely not getting power and interfering with your idle speed. Check for 12v at the choke. It needs power when the ignition switch is on. Good luck with this car.

your fuel pump is weak it would be a smart move to get a new one because the mechanical pump has a rubber diaphragm in it that drys out from sitting and will usually work for a short while and then it will die. some my still pump but not pump the proper psi to keep the engine going under load it will only allow it to run on idle

* A little shade tree mechanic trick in case you ever need it just to get one rolling down the road for a short ways when an auto trans doesn't want to work: put about a half cup of laundry fabric softener in it. Do NOT do this if you do not intend to rebuild the trans though!!! Because it doesn't do it any favors over the long run. But what it does is, because the clutches are made of a highly compressed fabric, most of the time it will get them to swell up a bit and eventually bite. You usually have to run it in neutral (so the pump is running - or so I have been told) and it may take awhile, possibly overnight before it works. But it will often may a dead trans get a car a handful of miles in a pinch. Again though, I definitely wouldn't recommend trying it on a trans you don't intend to rebuild. But if the trans doesn't work anyway you don't really have anything to lose. Keep up the cool videos sir.

I would not do that if the trans don't work then there is a issue with it but I have never had a automatic stop working just from sitting and if that car only sat for 10 years the thing just needs fluid
