Күн бұрын

I discovered this 1966 Buick Electra 225 4 door sedan while cruising the BookFace Marketplace. It looked to be complete and had some worthwhile pieces like the 401 Nailhead V8 engine, 3 speed Switch Pitch automatic transmission and finned aluminum front brake drums. And it was close enough that I could afford to go look! So of course I drug it home! This car has been sold to a new owner. As always, thanks for watching!

@@johnnapier5588 I can't remember a video of him ever replacing any rings or bearings. Drives me nuts, pull a motor and play with it. His garage, but I know I couldn't go thru all that work and never fix the problem. Rings and bearings are cheap compared to a machine shop or a crate motor. A lot of motors new rings, bearing, and a hone can go another 100k. Maybe clean up the valves

My favorite will it run channel. Just started watching it....bout 3 min in ....you gonna put that 445 on the floor and fight it....have it take you to the last round....leaving you on the verge of collapse....and about to humiliate yourself by crying.....on camera? Or will all that almost happen but instead you suddenly connect with a right to the block....an uppercut to the camshaft...with a quick left ..right combo to the heads and Intake with you finishing with a tear of joy in your left eys.... and a fist raised to the 'WILL IT RUN GODS? Idk... I'm going with crying and yelling 😭 Cheers Mortzki

I own a 1967 Buick Electra 225 with a 430. Other than having to pump the accelerator to get it to turn over, and an oil leak from the front main seal (I Think), i don’t have too many issues with it. Im not a mechanic. So im sure there’s a list of other mechanical things to address. Having a hard time with finding a restoration shop locally in Baltimore. So until I find one, it’s just a matter of time before something major goes wrong. In the meantime, I joyride once a week while being harassed by old people on the road begging me to sell it to them. Lol. Great content bro 👊🏽.

The shop in town has character, but the shop out in the country has a lift. That’s awesome. I’m happy to see life is becoming easier. As far as that Buick... if you have that lift, and there’s not a cross-member or something to make it difficult; it would be neat to see if you could pull the pan and roll in bearings. That car is pretty cool, and the cleanest revival car you’ve had on the channel.

The reverb is a signal delay device to the rear speaker. The delay is probably adjustable and creates an echo effect. These were real popular in the 60's. Imperial had them as an option on the 64-66 model years.

Great job getting it running, didn't think much when I seen you remove the trailer hitch until you drain the pan with that much water I think somebody backed it into a lake launching their boat that's why it locked up hydraulically maybe broke a piston or rod maybe you should check the rear end and transmission for water.

My uncle loved em. Electra 225. He owned several. In Detroit (back in the day) it was the #1 car to disappear off the driveway. I suppose they had curb appeal. My cuz used to come down to Tenn & buy all the deuce & a qwauta's & take em back to Michigan & sell em. He bought one from my uncle in the dead of winter. Got er back to Michigan where it broke down on the interstate. When he got back the nxt morning to haul it on home , it had been stripped... No doors, hood, deck, drive train , seats , & even the steering wheel... True story.

The tone reverberator on '60'era cars (GM was the only dealerships that I know who offered it) was most less like an amplifier that boosted the output with a bit of eco that mimicked the sound making it artificial stereo. It was a decent option for a AM radio at the time and might have done better for a AM-FM. I don't think stereo versions came out until sometime in the early to mid 70's. I could be wrong, but this is just my comment based on what I knew at the time. In 1975, I was 20 years old.

I heard an after-market reverberator once, I think in an Oldsmobile. It made the radio sound like it's playing in a bathroom, which was actually kind of fun. I mean, who doesn't like singing in the shower.

Yeah I had a couple of old GM “boats” that had the tone reverb on them/in them, whatever, but if you had that you generally had pretty badass car stereo for the time, and if you went to Radio Shack and got a couple of Realistic 6”x 9” speakers to put in the back window/ package tray then you really had something! Love those old land yachts, any of them, wasn’t no ride like them!!!

The Buick Electra 225 was one of the sleekest most beautiful cars built by GM. This car should have a 360 hp Buick 425 engine in it. Some had 2 four barrel crabs that were a dealer installed option. They are quite rare too find.

Love this video. My 1st car was Grampa's 1967 Electra 225 that he bought new. They changed a lil every year, '67 was def the best year. Love that car and still miss it. That 430 got 8mpg, and burned a quart of oil every 100 ft. I wish I still had it tho. I swear I can still smell the interior of that car 20+ years later.

The switch pitch torque converter was used in TH400s and the Jetaway two speed. I had a 67 Cutlass with the Jetaway. The wires inside of my transmission were shorted out, so I never got the switch pitch to work. I swapped on a TH350 from a 68 Olds and never looked back. I was hoping the pounding I heard on the video was the sticky valve. Goid video as always!
