Normally I don't like clone cars but back then the GTO was just a trim option for the LeMans anyway. If it's priced right it could be a good deal. Hopefully, the brakes and suspension have been upgraded as they were terrible in 1966. GM simply dropped in the stock Catalina 389, some stiffer front springs and called it a day. Down here in Miami we see a lot of 'chop shop' restorations, the exteriors often look great, everything that shows, but get the car on the rack and it's so butchered that it's almost unbelievable. I'm sure you've seen your share, I always marvel how smart people often lose their objectivity when looking at a nice looking car. Bring a friend and get the car on the rack. If everything checks out, then it's time for a mechanic to go over it thoroughly. Be patient, there's always another deal, don't get burned!
