In 1980 I had a GT6 and put a new clutch in it. I really appreciated the bonnet lifted and getting to sit on a tire.

Apparently an ex-army car - General Rust! I did chuckle when you commented "hopefully only surface rust". Nevertheless, underneath the detritus, is a lovely GT6 waiting to be reborn. I look forward to watching you progress this new project...

Not much on that body that isn’t going to need a lot of work to save. It is going to make your Jeep project look like a walk in the park. I know you can do it. Going to be some great welding videos. Can’t wait to see them.

I was really looking forward to seeing if Tush, could fit in the GT6! When I was about 14 or 15 years old, I went to a car dealership with my grandfather. They had a brand new GT6+, on the showroom floor. It was love at 1st sight! I still believe it is one of the best looking cars they ever made, but I would rather have a TR4, TR5, TR6, TR8 or Spitfire. Because, (basically) I’m a “ragtop” man!
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
We will see if he fits in the next episode. I am a ragtop guy myself too. But I already have the Spitfire, so my GT6 will be a great Spring/Fall car..... Maybe Spring 2022?!?! LOL

I hope I will be able to post even more often. The problem is editing takes time too and I have a daily job and family as well :) I will do my best though LOL

Always glad to see you with another interesting project, Elin. A bit off subject, but do you know whatever happened to Jade Muttley? He used to have a great series on TR6 and Triumph Vitesse, but it seems he has gone from youtube now. Has he changed his channel name?

Triumph GT6 - the poor man's E Type. That looks a bit of a job Elin especially on the RH side. But I guess pulling fibreglass out is easier than cutting metal... Oh and make sure your visitor doesn't fall asleep ....😂
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a big job. But it needs to be cost efficient, so we might replace more panels than I would do on my own car. On my car I would fabricate parts, that are cheap, but I do it because I like it. Here I can't waste time, so we will see what will be fixed and what replaced
@1chish3 жыл бұрын
@@RustyBeauties I am absolutely no good at repairing metalwork as you and David do so well so stick to replacing panels. Better at building engines and gearboxes though 😂

Hi Elin, I thought I'd start at the beginning on this one whilst keeping up with the latest updates. One question, was the car road legal in Canada? I would have thought the sills being rivetted would be a MoT failure, that said I think in the UK older cars are exempt from the MoT. The MoT is an examination that you need for your insurance to be valid, it's called the ITV in Spain obviously it will be called something else in Canada Good luck from Spain!!
@RustyBeauties2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was road legal. Since the frame is in a good shape, they probably didn’t care how the sills were held :)

I know Elin likes to strip car down to metal piece meal (never seeing the big picture), but this one is screaming for chem dip or media blasting.
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
These processes are for people with no patience. I'd like to go through the entire body myself and examine every square inch, while stripping it. Doing it all at once would be a a pain, but doing it as I am doing the repairs is not a big deal.
@myobboy99733 жыл бұрын
Elin, that (looks a bit like a) GT6 is a big project. At any reasonable rate of pay for your time, your friend could buy a two year old low mileage Porche. So, why not work on your own really nice GT6 project first? If the reason for this is your own cash flow, then that is a good decision. But, if you are just doing a friend a favour, then you are out of your skull. Ben ;-)) PS, Your own Anna is still crying alone in the dark, she told me that in my dreams.
@RustyBeauties3 жыл бұрын
There are times when we have to choose between what we like to do and what we have to do. At least I am lucky that what I have to do is also what I like to do. I wish I could afford to work on my cars only, but this channel is far from being enough to support itself, let alone my family.
