I loved this video. I started playing bass after playing along to the video on my mum's acoustic guitar. My mum pointed out that I was playing the basslines, and that was the start of a beautiful journey that involved buying a shitty bass guitar and working out how to play EVERY SINGLE fall bassline ever (up till the early 90s).

tostare Did you think, without ever openly admitting it or saying it out loud, but knowing the amount of band members he got through, that there may have been a slight, if very small chance that one day the call from MES would come? I suppose the other problem would be that he didn't like employing Fall fans, so you couldn't admit to knowing the songs or even liking them as that would have scuppered even the slightest of chance anyway. I was watching Steve Hanley and the woman who helped him write his book being interviewed on KZbin by Stewart Lee. They were talking about just how iconic and recognisable Steve's bass lines were. She said a friend who ran a rock school for kids phoned her up as they needed a bass player for a gig the kids were doing at a local fete. Steve agreed to do it, the woman said there was a couple of 7 year olds on guitar and drums, but as soon as Steve started to play it sounded exactly like The Fall. Which made me literally laugh out loud on a bus last week.

@@grizcuz Yes, I have entertained that demented daydream. Given the rate he went through players, there was always a vanishingly slight chance you might have got the call, which would have have resulted in a nightmare. Steve Hanley's book is pretty good on that.

Whatever happened to this song? Used to be, when I stepped into the street, people was blasting this from their headphones and car peasant-stereos. I don't know, but I guess I stepped out into a different universe. But I wonder why this is still here. I mean KZbin.
