1967 Ford Thunderbird Gateway Orlando

Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando Florida is proud to offer this original, 1967 Ford Thunderbird 4 Door Sedan. This Thunderbird sports a classic copper paint scheme with a body set off by a black vinyl top. The The T-bird is powered by the 390 cubic inch FE big block Ford V8. This T-bird came from the factory with the 390 CID FE 4 Barrel Carburetor and dual exhaust. This epic V8 engine was used from the easy cruising 58' T-birds, to Steve McQueen's Bullitt 1968 Mustang fastback, to grandpa's 67 F-100 pick-up truck. The powerful V8 is paired with an automatic transmission for ease and convenience. Many power options are equipped such as power brakes, power steering and even power locks and windows. It also offers air conditioning to keep you and you passengers cool as you cruise the boulevard. The exterior is very stylish and it will stand out in any crowd. I just heard this January 2023 that the Ford Thunderbird was named from the exclusive Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage in California near Palm Springs! Ford asked The Thunderbird Country Club if they could use their name for their brand new 2 seater car in 1954!!! What a story, what a car, what a life!!!!!

Gorgeous! Mine had a factory 8-rack player... seems to be missing in this one. Would love to have this one anyway. First thing I'd add would be sequential rear-turn signals.

learn something every day....always thought T-Birds of that time came standard with the 428 ' Thunderjet'engine, not the 390, then again I'm not a Ford expert

Bundy is correct. My parents had both a 67(bought used) and a 68 (bought new) at the same time(we felt like millionaires, though we weren't...my parents were thrifty but indulged occasionally, and they both LOVED this bodystyle) the 67 being a four door an the 68 a 2-door. The 67 had the 428, which was very refined and quiet. The 68 had the 429, which was a torque beast! The 390, an older, sturdy engine from 1961 roots, was overwhelmed by the weight of this new body style, not to mention the new smog controls at the time. The 390 was phased out at the beginning of the 68 model year. A few were still shipped with it. I only know that because my dad ordered the 68 with the 390 (noooooo!) and between the time he ordered it and it was delivered nearly two months later, Ford had officially ceased to offer it, so the car was manufactured with the 429 ( yassss!). He was initially annoyed, but then became enthralled in short order with the 429's performance. I miss those days!

The 428 Thunderjet was an option in 66' and 67. Surprisingly, many were shipped with the 428 in 66'. I think 390 was very rare, and a horrible choice for the 67' "Glamour Bird", especially in the longer wheelbase FORDOR configuration.

Your post is inaccurate! While people seem to think the 67 Thunderbird is so huge , a boat , bloated etc. It’s about 1” longer and in coupe form is actually about 100 lb. LESS the the 1964-6 coupes. The 67 4 door weight about the same as the 64-66 coupes and those in convertible form actually weight about 300 lb MORE then the 67 4 door bird. So to say the 390 4V engine wasn’t powerful enough for the new for 67 Thunderbird due to it being heavier then prior Gen is simply FALSE! This isn’t my opinion or thoughts it’s factual and can be looked up. Not sure why people also think the 64-66 are so much smaller they’re are NOT! Within an 1” or so in length
