I am very suspicious about this car. Looks to me like a standard Cortina fitted with Lotus parts. No centre console, Gear stick looks way too long, steering wheel looks wrong and underneath the bonnet just looks wrong to me. Nope, would stay away from this one.

This car is for real. This car was purchased new by Walter Boyce of Ottawa, Canada. I was the 3rd owner of it purchasing it in 1973. I did a complete restoration on it in the late 90's and it left Canada in the spring of 2000 for North Carolina. It was the second left hand drive built for the export market. The car is now in Jacksonville, FL.

No Centre console, no Twin Cam badge on the boot.Never seen one with a green interior.I had one of these in 1983, impossible to get spares back then, so Christ knows how you would get them now!

No doubt the console is missing and the chassis plate has been removed but its not fair to call it a reshell without actually seeing something definitive. spares are more available today than they were in 1983 with the internet.

Binnie Langley but the MkII LC’s were based on the GT which had a console between the seat which extended to the floor surrounding the gear lever (in late ‘67 when the GT got the x-flow and the 1600E was introduced they got a little clock on the end of the console).

That Cortina is 1967 and they is it,new modell has short gearstick and smaller steeringwheel.

On reflection, the rivets on the chassis plate look un-original, so thats been off, its definately the wrong gearbox, it should have the short remote control gearstick. what with that and the missing console, strange interior and twin cam boot badge, I would say that this is a re-shelled car. Lotus Cortina running gear in an ordinary 2 door Cortina with a Lotus paint job.

That is the proper gearbox for 67/68 GT and Lotus. It is a 3 rail box known as the 2000e Bullit gearbox-it has a tall 2.95 ratio first gear. The shorter gearstick you mention is on 69 and newer models. The 67/68 non GT had an even longer gearstick that came up out of the floor closer to the firewall and curved back towards the driver. You shouldn't be talking like that unless you know more of what you are talking about.

actually not completely a reshell my uncle owned it in canada from the 70s till around 2000 and restored it in the 90s there are some panels not original to this car but there is some that are original lotus cortina

There is a website dedicated to the restoration of this car. www.lotus-cortina.com Yes the car has had some body work but is a real Lotus. Anyway, finding Lotus vin plates (with proper LHD information) to put on a regular Cortina would be almost harder to obtain than the whole car itself here in Canada.

David, you are right...I removed the chassis plate during the restoration. The gearbox is original with the exception of the cluster and low gear which I had to replace when it was run dry of oil. The gearstick is original (knob was replaced after I sold the car). The never ever had a console nor a twin cam badge. The only Lotus badges were the ones on the rear quarter panels.
