Beautiful motor car, I've always liked that style of steering wheel on the Mercedes, it sounds like the water pump to me or maybe it's just a matter of replacing the belt.

For a car that's 57 yrs old it is outstanding condition, the fan belt I would suggest the rubber has gone hard hence the reason it is slipping
