Swapping a 1967 mustang fastback body swapped to a 2013 mustang gt

I already did this build but I did it on a foxbody platform , the measurements are 98% spot on and literarily true to a 67 / 68 body .. only thing is you have to extend the wheel base but it literarily works perfect
@1194video7 ай бұрын
I would not gain anything by swapping it to the sn95 platform though, i did buy a 95 cobra in thoughts of that but it’s a bit out dated. The last one we did on the 2012 went great so thought I’d do it on a 13 this time which is basically the same car, did you do any videos of your swap, always enjoy seeing others masterpieces

Man I had to persist with this video like button to get it to actually accept my press without it becoming a double press where it was unliked (not dislike). SO I figured I'd also add a comment for algorithmmm purposes. I love what you are doing with this since its essence is make it work where it might appear challenging! I think it's just great to have the video to accompany the application for a register of motor vehicles. That way they can rest assured you have NOT converted the car and it's not possible to be a stolen car. Sometimes the hoop jumping exercises get applied until failure. I see you having all that is required to succeed with the bureau. Looking Good!

Seems to me you would cut the 67 body down the center of the roof and weld each side to the 2013 then patch a strip down the middle, but you'll need custom front and rear glass. But it's doable and would preserve the interior.
@1194video6 ай бұрын
I will still be able to utilize the interior just takes modifying the door panels. The easiest way to do it is to just skin the sides but then you have to keep he original roof line so it looks a little weird, my reasoning behind not modifying the original 67 shell is so that in any accident the body panels can be replaced with oe parts
@edgarokras56957 ай бұрын
In theory, for the next project cut roof at the middle and make body wider
@1194video7 ай бұрын
Already done one that way and it was a huge mistake, not only is it a ton of extra labor but you have to make the windshield Pilar’s super wide to fit a windshield in the hole. Looks very tacky

If you didn't want to have flares and just wanted to to look stock you could cut the top if the quater panel and step it out and little to make the body wider. Would give the body a more stock look but add a little more work. Just an idea 💡cheers Roman

@1194video11 ай бұрын
Iv never don’t the mopars but I’m sure it’s the same concept, one very wide one narrow, I’m hoping to not have to narrow the rear or control arms. Time will tell
@SteveMirabelli11 ай бұрын
@@1194video The Mopars line up pinch weld to pinch weld perfectly side to side but they narrow as you move up to the dash so it is tricky. I use the same trick you are going to with the rocker to the floor. The only difference I have learned to do is to put some box tubing in the frame rail before I mend the two cars together.. Chargers are hard tops and flex a lot if you don't reinforce the rockers.

why don’t u cut the body from the fast back and add a few Inches in the middle
@SteveMirabelli11 ай бұрын
@@Brandon_obs_ls Then you would need a custom windshield and back glass. Unless you widen the car at the fender, door and quarter tops.
@1194video11 ай бұрын
@@Brandon_obs_ls well, to make it short, everything has to be widened, you have to narrow the wi Dow opening adding to the A pillar, add metal down whole car, hood, grill, roof, deck lid, bumpers, tail panel, and to keep center body li e you would have to add to each side not just center and then glass fit is another issue

@1194video7 ай бұрын
The 1967 mustang is a very flimsy car, even with frame connectors it’s very weak, if you cut the body off a 67 the flat will fold by a new model you can drive with no body without any weakness of the floor, I want my cars to be safe, a 1967 is not safe. That’s why i went this route, I have an older build on the channel using the floor of a 2012 and it helped in strength but not s a huge amount of extra work

@@1194video Lifelong 60yr ole bodyman here I agree on safety but I would think a Dynacorn restonod body with full cage and 5 point seatbelts would be safe enough and way easier too also worth way more money in the end I admire your dedication though body men like us are a breed that can accomplish anything

Why not make the older body wider?
@1194video2 ай бұрын
This is why, the glass can not be widened, so you have to make your pillars on the sides of the glass 2” thicker, then you have to widen everything, front end, hood, roof skin, trunk lid, taillight panel, bumpers, and valance, then headliner, interior roof trim, and trim f something gets damaged down the road it has to be widened to fit. This was it’s a stock 1967 dimensional car.
@gregd80387 ай бұрын
Would a 69 body fit better? Less modifications?
@1194video7 ай бұрын
Yes a 69 is wider so does fit better, I have a video of a full 69 swap too onto an 08 gt500 on my channel. And I used a new 67 fastback not a n old car as a donor
wouldn't be using a convertible easier and better in the long run
@NathanFraser-bi8hx6 ай бұрын
Why don't you just widen the 68 body
@1194video6 ай бұрын
It’s a lot pre work. Then you have to make Pilar’s very thick to accommodate the glass, and if the car gets into an accident the replacement parts have to be custom vs this way it can be the same as a stock 67-68 mustang
