Great work, Mike! Just seems sad to have to daub this concours masterpiece in historic slate grey Nr. 6601 (Reutter 741) rather a more exciting slate grey metalic (22D)...but this way someone will pony up that extra 150,000 dollars if you use the period correct contrasting coco mats in bright red, which I wouldn´t want. But your workmanship is legendary and best of all, you still have a Dad to pump the pedal for you when it´s time to bleed the brakes! Super. Here in Germany, many 60s Porsche restorers are getting testy with the market and even entertain the thoughts of using Bentley/Morgan metallic green (very dark, looks black in the garage) rather than say, original Irish green (6606). Four years of painstaking work! May God bless you for your patience and relaxed demeanor with your admirers! All the best to you and your Dad!

Mike, great video, great detail, I am currently restoring a 68 T. There is a Porsche part for the grommet that holds the parking brake tube through the tailing arm, I just fit them.

Thats a great question Ron The assembly is strategic in its order as some parts need to be installed before moving to next areas. I try to explain as I go to keep from potential mistakes of safest order. Because of the precise fitment Porsche has created in this car order is not forgiving and can lead to redoing things. Engine will be dead last

I was wondering how you removed the seal from the hub in the first place? I have had no success with the puller. Were you able to reuse them? Thanks

Thanks 27jpski If I remember they will need to be pried out with a tool or screw driver...Try hitting them from the inside out with a hammer and driver tool. They will not be able to be reused after removal. Good luck with your 67!!

Thanks Tom I think Toe will have minimum effect on height, camber will affect it a bit. Torsion bar adjustment and weight will make the biggest difference

Hello Rui Thanks and welcome to the channel Thats quite a marathon! Im glad you enjoying the series=) I use several different methods to deal with rust depending on the condition and type of metal. Naval Jelly works great for small delicate things that cant be removed. Evaporust works the best for soaking difficult things that do not have paint. Metal rescue works great for things with light rust and painted surface. But both liquids need warm temperature to work. Below 70 degrees will not activate things. 80 degrees and above works best. Sandblasting with 80 grit glass bead for large items. Also muriatic acid will remove rust nicely also but must be careful how long you let things soak and type of metal. anything with Iron be careful! Good Luck!

I m in the other side of the pound (Portugal) and I m trying to find "similar" products to get started with cleaning up the rust In some parts. So naming will help me look what are these made off and look similar around here. I know there ar tons of products and brands but looking at some before and after helps choose one.

Hello Martin I haven't used much URO products on this restoration but the bushings I have used were of remarkable quality. They do make A arm bushings for these cars and I think would be worth a try as vs Porsche genuine as they are extremely expensive. Good Luck!

By the way, did you use the old rotors? Or replace? It looks like there is new grey paint on the mating surface, to hub. And did you remove the wheel nut studs prior to soaking hubs in derusting liquid?

Hi Andrew Yes I did re-use the rotors that came off the car. I had them turned but right on the edge of spec..If they don't work out I will have to buy new ones. The manual mentions anything beyond spec could cause a chatter when braking.. so cross my fingers. The reason I went with them is some of the metal castings were actually better back then as apposed to whats available today. They gray paint is POR 15 and I did leave the studs in the front and rear hubs when soaking

Off topic here, but I'd like to get the opinion of an experienced body man. I've been drooling over the Becks 550 Spyder. They claim they do a hand layup with mat and cloth to reduce the amount of resin for a more stable composite. It's supposed to be superior to the material shot from a gun. Any truth to this? BTW, I'd prefer aluminum but I don't have 3.5 million bucks in my piggy bank. As always, great show. I learn so much.

Hi Greg Thanks you Becks makes a great looking car..as a general rule anytime you laminate VS solid construction the laminate is always stronger..Similar to boat building boats take quite a pounding in rough water. Less chance of cracks forming and much stronger in the long run. My piggy bank is a bit short of that 3.5 million too=)! I think you would be very happy with a Becks build Good Luck!

Thats a nice car CJ ..The brake caliper pistons can be extremely difficult. Try hooking up a grease gun and Zerk to the caliper and pump it out with a grease. That should do it! Good luck@@cjsawinski

Hi Mike - doing my rear brakes at this time and re-watching this great video, thank you! The parking brakes on my car, as on yours did not have the grommet to hold the tube in which the cable go through before going to the expanders. I did find the reference in the PET as 695.424.611.00 and ordered the parts from Porsche Classic. This is what they look like: www.912bbs.org/forum/threads/look-at-what-i-found-wedged-into-the-rear-brake.51805/post-418850 - I had not noticed in the shop manual the slot until I rewatched the vid, so this will be a helpful hint to get these in, as they are definitely stiffer than a regular rubber grommet (and needed a slight sanding of the inner diameter to find losely)
