Thank you for the compliment. I’m glad that the videos are going to be helpful to you . I’m also glad that you paid attention to the fact that there is more than one video , that breaks down the whole series of wires for this series of trucks. Thanks again and great luck on your upcoming restoration.

HisLordStigness Trace the wire back to where it makes the connection. The tail light section of the wires are connect to the main wiring harness under the bed of the truck. It should be pretty easy to replace the burnt section of wire , by way of splicing in a new piece.

Jarhead6491 On the fuse box where the fuses snap into place , look for where it’s marked Fuel in white letters. There’s a spade there. That’s where you plug the sending unit wire in to the fuse box .

Glad the video was helpful to you. Sorry to hear that someone made a mess of your wires. You’re going to have to try and trace each one to see what it’s hooked up to . If you’re brave enough you can cut them out and start fresh, using what I’ve shown it these videos as a guide. Either way I hope you get things figured out , and thanks fir watching the videos. 👍🏽

i know this is a old video but i would have to say one of the best out there showing the whole 72 chev wiring. Just getting done my ls swap into my 72 and had a quick question for you if you happen to still be around. I did a ls swap so have deleted a lot of stuff like you were doing. The connector in this video explaining the turn signals and such is what i'm talking about. My problem is my signals not working. I have cut the end off and am using the individual wires to run to signal, high beam and emergency brake. My question is......if i don't have that connector hooked up do i still need that NEGATIVE (pin #7 ) that has the clip on it to hooked up? I'm picking up some new flasher relays on way home to rule them out but i think i'm having a grounding issue and that is the only ground i don't have hooked up. Sorry for the long question, any info would be greatly appreciated. my digital dash hooks to my holley that i am using to power the ls. I am only using led's to light the above lights. again thanks in advance. Jason
@PatinaCode
@PatinaCode Жыл бұрын
Yeah , I’m still around. The ground wire that you’re referring to that has the clip on it was there to ground that harness to the underside of the dash. Since you have deleted that harness and are using individual wires there is no need for it any longer, although, yes you will need to ground your new set up to make things work properly.

I really appreciate your help on this, I need to get your thoughts ... On this; I'd like to keep the original wiring harness, it is been very difficult finding one. What Would you recommend? Original or aftermarket??? ...
@PatinaCode
@PatinaCode Жыл бұрын
Honestly I prefer the original just for the simple fact that I know that it’s going to work every time if it’s in good condition. There’s nothing wrong with aftermarket and by aftermarket you mean new age blade fuse type . If you need extra spots for relays and such , I’d say do the aftermarket. If you are going to be running just stick components then the original will do perfectly. Check Classic Parts Of America . They have complete old style wiring harness as well as parts of the wiring harness. You can also look at LMC Truck . They have the things there as well.

@PatinaCode
@PatinaCode Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t have to be for a big block . All the wires you need to operate it will be the same as a v8 small block .

@@PatinaCode ..."Thanks for your help." I have gone through ignition switch, two starters, when I was tracing the wires to the starter, I found some burnt wires. I want to do this right, someone told that since it was converted, it might take more amperage,??? ...
@PatinaCode
@PatinaCode Жыл бұрын
@@stevegarcia8376 If it’s a traditional 454 then , there’s nothing drawing power other than the HEI . The same HEI distributor can be used on a small block . Yes timing values may be a slight bit different, depending on the power out put , but they draw the same energy to light up . I’m sorry it takes me so long to reply. It’s just busy around here. I appreciate you checking out the videos. Thank you .

Hi just got back . Ok , well if you don’t have a blown fuse then you may need to check the ground. There’s a ground strap that should be from the gauge cluster to the inside of the dash .

I’m just a little confused. Because I have a 67 plug that has the dummy lights, but I purchased a rebuilt instrument cluster with all the mechanical gauges and volt meters and tachometer. But on that new printed circuit, the top half of the plug is totally separate from the printed circuit on the bottom half of the plug so it looks like I’m supposed to have a hot wire For the top half of the plug and another hot wire for the bottom half of the plug.
