I was in An Khe February 1969, with the 238th Aviation , Gun Runners. I ran into a High School friend, Buddy Burdette on the base in An Khe, 173 third Airborne. He was killed after I got home in 1970. Lost 4 other High School friends over there. Awesome photos. Glad you made it home and thanks for your Service.

I was on Hon Cong with the 586th from May 1969-1970 November. The 1 Quonset hut I never was in was the 167th.

Thanks for posting Sgt. Straight’s pics. My brother, Gaylord M. Couch, is in the pics at 6:12 and 6:22 of the video. He did not make it back from Hon Kong Mountain, died May 28, 1969, just a couple weeks before discharge. Is Sgt. Stright still around? Any way to contact him if he is?

Yes, Sergeant Jon Stright is still around. Find me on Facebook and message me. I have a current roster. What was your brother's final rank? I see PFC, but he may have been promoted to SP4. I would like to correct that if you know. Paul Gansky

Awesome, eventually at the fourth minute Elvis makes an appearance. Up until then this didn’t feel like a Paul video. Love Paul’s photos, lots have great composition. That Buddha statue was wicked. Most unusual and unique Vietnam photos I’ve seen on KZbin. And so far can’t say I’ve seen a single M16 in any of his photos / videos. Definitely unusual. Paul’s a cool guy. No doubt ‘bout that!!

Sounds like KZbin muted some of the background songs due to copyrights. I never monetize these videos, so it's annoying when a conflict occurs. Regarding weapons, when we deployed from Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1966, we all had M-14s. M-16s were not that widely available yet. During my six months in-country, I never needed a rifle. I wish I had taken even more photos. Black and white film could be processed locally, and I used a fair amount of black and white film. For color, I used Kodachrome slide film, which I saved and took home at the end of my time in service.

@@paulgansky That’s awesome Paul, I too have experience with 35mm black and white film. I chose to be on my high school yearbook staff, Diane the captain in the US army whom had me live with her Texan family as an exchange student loaned me her superb Cannon AE-1 camera, I used it lots. At school we had access to near limitless black and white film, which we developed ourselves. I can remember the development chemicals smell to this day. My high school year book is a treasured item. We have none of that kind of thing in the UK. ...The US education system is different and better in my opinion than ours. How times change. Revolution’s are brewing and mysterious symbols keep appearing in UK fields of crop each summer, many near to monuments thousands of years old. Sadly somewhat too in depth to expand upon in a KZbin comment. Good videos bro’, really liked the recent reunion one from what appeared to be a civil war setting. Played the sound track you put to it through a potent sound system today, just to get a feel, planning to mix hard step electronic dance music with your reunion music and record it. I make music, write books, run gigantic sound systems.

P.S One of my best pals does a KZbin channel called: Escaping The Matrix For Good. He and his wife live next to RAF Woodbridge which used to be a US airbase with A-10’s in the 80’s. Some of the basses perimeter fence borders their small holding which is a 200 year old house, slap bang by the end of the runway. 16th Air Assault regularly fly their Apache’s crazy low over Gary and Vicky’s isolated house. We wave to them, they occasionally wave back. Good guys. Gary’s videos are funny and interesting. Proper English life. 💜

@jamespeters2859 We all had M14s, James. Elvis met up with Colin Powell whe he was a Major, in Germany.
