Glad to hear your machine is working well again. What was the problem?

I followed your pump re-assembly video, and it was very helpful thank you, I also had problems, I was not getting any fuel to my injectors. Was ready to remove the pump again but decided to take the vane pump cover off the back to make sure all was okay in there. Everything looked good, I removed the ring and vanes together, all looked fine, and it was in the CC side of the ring, just as a last resort, I switch the vanes position, I knew the pairs were kept the same after I disassemble but did not know which pair was in the back or front. After doing this I had fuel to the injectors within 30 sec of cranking and was running in another 5 min. Looking close at the vanes there appeared to be an ever so slight angle on the tip, might be something to look into on yours. Hope this might help you like you helped me.

Somehow I missed seeing your comment until now. Thanks for the tip about reversing the vanes in the pump. I installed brand new vanes about a week after first attempting to start the engine with the rebuilt pump. The vanes had been on order but arrived late. I unfortunately didn't have better success with the new vanes installed but it's always worth a second look. What I did find a bit later (after trying to start the engine countless times) were two things: 1. An injector line had a hole in it from rust and that would certainly have affected its ability to deliver the fuel, and 2. The gear selector in the manual gearbox was placed between the slides and in effect had the tractor in both forward and reverse at the same time. (See video kzbin.info/www/bejne/g33anZWXoquroM0). I haven't got back to starting the engine due to so many other commitments over the last many months but I plan to fix the injector line (replace it) and attempt another start now that the transmission is infact in Neutral!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I hope your tractor is running well!

Man I’m having a terrible time finding a valve that fits the bottom of the fuel tank. I really love your setup.

Such a long road to bring this old tractor back...I may install new plungers in the delivery portion of the injection pump. The ones that are in there are the originals that had been stuck solid when I first took the pump apart. It doesn't seem to be getting enough fuel.

Hey, glad to see a video on the tractor, sorry she isn't kicking over for you. Have you taken to the govenor linkage cover off and peeked at that to make sure that metering valve isn't katiwompass and not letting her get enough fuel/, it appears she is getting fuel, just not enough. I know you have put alot of work into that pump, we have discussed that at length, but it just seems like a lack of fuel. i have yet to reassemble my pump, just lacking time honestly. Would live to have a manul like you have there on the old girl. Can't wait to see what you find and get her going.

I have looked under the governor cover a few times but I can look again. I am starting the think that the pump plungers may need replacing. They are an internal part but I could replace them in a day and have it back together. They were stuck solid in the bore when I diasassembled the pump and they might be undersize from corrosion. There are some very close tolerances inside and the pump plungers have to be just right or they'll bypass fuel. I'm going to place an order for some this week.

@@EverydayProjects If you wouldn't mind. let me know what part number they are and cost please, I might get some, just to go ahead and replace them. Mine were not stuck at all, but can mic them out and compare to what you get if you don't mind.

eBay sells knock-off copies of Case manuals for cheap. They contain the same information and the pages don't smell like mold and diesel fuel as my manual does. Good luck.😅

Geez!!! I thought it kicked and was going to go! Dam!! You seem to have all the bases covered but what about the pre heater? Take care Craig✌️

Pre heater was on and being powered by the car by booster cables so the starting battery didn't get worn down. It did sputter on its own for a few seconds...So close!

That really doesn't sound like mine starting at all. Hard to say without it running and having it sitting for a while where rings might be a little sticky, but it sounds like it's only trying to fire on three cylinders. I'll fire mine up today and film the sound. It's a even crank sound on 4 cylinders. Compression test?

Yes, you're right, it doesn't sound like it is working against good compression. I discovered a hole in an injection line between the pump and the injector that I'll have to change. I removed the injectors and poured 1/4 can of Seafoam solvent into each cylinder a couple of months ago. Maybe that will help free up the rings. I'll blow it out by rolling the engine over before re-installing the injectors. It could have a burned valve. I don't have the adapter for my compression guage (they're about $100) but it would be a worthwhile investment to make a proper assessment of the condition of the cylinder/valves.

You can advance a little before or after TDC. 10 or 6 might help also a shot of ether while your cranking in the intake.you don't have to see the flywheel pointer just turn the pump like a distributor on a car. Old car. Away from engine is advance

That's worth a try. I do sometimes give it a shot of ether but I don't like to use it. It does fire up on ether for a few seconds, then dies. I found a hole in an injector line that is spraying fuel behind the pump. That is definitely part of the issue too. When I rebuilt the injection pump, I found that the pump plungers were stuck solid after sitting for 17 years with fuel in the pump. They were cleaned and reused but perhaps they need to be replaced with new ones.

If you get it to run for a few minutes those plungers will loosen up. They see 2000 psi pressure everytime a cylinder fires
@tsleepr8898

I should add its 50 psi to spread the plungers apart and 2000 when the register with the cam

@@tsleepr8898 I'm thinking that the small bit of corrosion on them has reduced their diameter and some fuel is bypassing them on each stroke. I'll be taking the pump apart again and hopefully, this time will fix it. There are two videos of the pump dissassembly and rebuild on my channel.

I bought the fuel shut off valve at a local store but they would be available online too. Perhaps on Amazon. Also, the blue hose is push-on diesel fuel hose and I bought that from a diesel repair shop. Thanks for watching

She needed more than that. The battery needed a new tractor. Haha The fuel pump was gummed up. Once I figured it out, off she went.
