Mandog I watched it a couple more times and I agree with you about it being a L-78, a new exaust, high idle, possibility, other than that brother what a nice car, complete SS interior, no rust I could see, seemed complete, anyway I owned a '69 L-78, M-22, bolted a set of hookers with shortie mufflers, a 750 Holley Double pumper to it and omg it was an animal, loved that car, good luck with yours

Had one when l was 17 in the mid 80s. That was one of my favorite car's. Had a built 350 with a built transmission. Quick shift auto. Red light to red light it was hard to beat.

Iconic car here....the one that left the factory w/a Buick Skylark interior! I've read about this car. Unique unto itself. Chevelle's & Skylark's shared this same final assembly plant but on the day of production a black Chevelle interior wasn't in the current inventory, so it got Skylark seats & door panels.
@johnnytyler56852 жыл бұрын
You didn't read about "THIS car", you read about *THESE* cars. This was NOT "the only Chevelle" to get a Skylark interior, and there is nothing "iconic" about it. There were actually A LOT of 1968 Chevelles that got the Skylark interior. As a matter of fact, not only did many 1968 Chevelles get the Buick Skylark interior, but some even got Oldsmobile Cutlass or Pontiac Le Mans/GTO interiors, and those are rarer than the Skylark interior. There is no definitive answer for why this happened with these 1968 Chevelles, but the general consensus is that there was a shortage of Chevelle interior parts for some reason so the Buick, Olds and/or Pontiac interiors were substituted based on availability because they are all GM A-Body cars and therefore the interior dimensions are all the same. The seat frames for a Chevelle, Cutlass, Skylark and Le Mans are all identical...the only difference is which seat COVER goes on them. And while the outside of the doors are all different shapes, the interior dimensions are the same so the interior door panels are direct swaps. So you are completely and totally wrong about this car being "unique unto itself". That couldn't be further from the truth. It was NOT "on the day" that this car was built...there was actually a span of SEVERAL MONTHS of production of the 1968 model year where Buick, Olds or Pontiac interiors were installed into Chevelles. This happens to be one of those cars, and while it is a neat factory "mistake" (I guess that's what you'd call it), it is NOT really that rare and many Chevelle guys don't actually like having the interior from a different model car in their Chevelles.

Would you consider selling your car, no worries if not, also would like to get some more info on why Buick interiors where installed was it cause of a strike at GM
@raystein4457 Жыл бұрын
@@mandog1981 Dear Sir no I'm not selling my car but yes the buick interior was used on early model year chevelles as mine is an April car the reason was not a strike but arson due to the Martin Luther King shooting it was the Chevy division warehouse that was burnt down by rioting and chevy sourced out the interior parts from olds pontiac an buick. My car had buick GS 400 special interior which I had a rough time getting an couldn't find kick panels but I did get an olds driver side an a pontiac pass side from a salvage yard deep down south finally. OPG BUICK PARTS is where you'll get the papers verifying this they were very helpful an nice Ray stein

This car has a factory Buick interior, Chevrolet interior guys went on a strike during the build of this car. The cowl tag showed a Buick interior with a bench seat. Very cool car one I wish I would have kept for sure.

I have a ‘68 Chevelle and LOVE the bench seat. ❤❤
@DanEBoyd Жыл бұрын
I can deal with a bench seat and column shifter or a bench seat and 4 speed, but the most distasteful format for me is bucket seats with a column shifter - I HATE seeing that. GM, Ford, Chrysler, and AMC were all guilty of building cars this way too.

Ugly 8” Rally’s? I beg to differ 8” rally’s are iconic as many others would agree too. I do have other videos of the car where motor does come out here on KZbin
@americafirstmaga50732 жыл бұрын
Rally wheels ugly? Besides the 500 magnum factory rims the Rally caps & rings look the best, a few different versions too. Classic. One of the few factory GM wheels that didn't need a "day 2" change. They didn't come on just Corvettes.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime In German called the Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung.:-((()/(
