Robert holmes ended up living in a small house in belleplain saskatchewan. A small town 10 miles south of where are farm was. He was such a nice guy who even let me wear his superbowl ring.

Municipal Stadium in Kansas City had a number of innovations/features that were quite unique for their time. The Chiefs had a horse ("Warpaint") that would run up and down the sideline after the Chiefs would score a TD, groundkeeper George Toma-painted the Chiefs and their opponent's helmet logos on each side of the 50 yd line, there was a band that was present just off the field (Pardo swing band) that would play during TD celebrations/half time etc--and the Chiefs awarded KC businessmen red blazers for selling most season tickets and being able to stand in the end zone during pre-game introductions as the Chiefs came on the field

The Chiefs won at home 24-10 against the Raiders and then two weeks later lost 38-21 to the Raiders in Oakland--the teams finished with identical 12-2 records-so there was no clear Western Division champion. Hence the AFL set up a 1 game playoff to decide the Western Division finalist--I believe it was played in Oakland because the Raiders outscored the Chiefs in 48-45 in total points in the two regular-season games. The Raiders then demolished the Chiefs 41-6 and went on to the AFL championship game against the Jets

And lost 27-23 and then Joe Namath guaranteed a win over the Colts in SB III

This year the Chiefs started wearing ♥️ red pants with the white jerseys

It would be the same for the Ciefs the next year, except they'd win the whole thing. Here, as in 1969, they beat their opponents into the turf with a high scoring offense and a monstrous defense that allowed only single-digit scores in some games. Loads of size and talent at every position and a genius coach who knew what that type of talent could do, with the right schemes. Those Houston Oiler unis were great, and 1968 marked the first appearance of the classic Bronco uniform, that would be used all the way into 1996.

That Jet victory over KC was huge and kept the Chiefs from winning the west outright, though the Raiders were fired up in Oakland for the playoff.

@@graciemaemarie11jones16, at that time that he lost, he still faced the music. Yes, he later got revenge, but before that, still faced it. Its indisputable.

Aaaah the memorys. Grew up with the Cheifs. Great team. But 68 ended bad, a 41-6 loss at Oakland.

I figured the "Woke culture" would force the Chiefs to change their name the same way they forced the Washington Redskins to do so. However, the KC Chiefs name came from the mayor of KC at the time they left Dallas, H.R. Bartle who was called "The Chief" and as such the team was essentially named after him. Bartle was instrumental in having Lamar Hunt move the team to Kansas City. Hunt actually wanted to move the team to New Orleans but LSU did not want to share Tulane Stadium with a NFL team so Hunt chose Kansas City.

For most of the year, the Chiefs had both Buck Buchanon , at 6-7, 275, and Ernie Ladd at 6-9, 290 at DT. Probably the largest combination at that time although Merlin Olsen/Roger Brown of the Rams were pretty large, too..
