1968 Cutlass: I Scored a Killer Deal On Bucket Seats & New Garage

I scored a killer set of original 1968 bucket seats for the cutlass, then i had to break down and order a new hurst competition plus shifter and on top of all the commotion, i am in the middle of moving from one garage to a much nicer one.

I want a lift more than a building but the floors aren't deep enough. On top of that, lifts are expensive.

Nice garage, that place looks huge! if I'm lucky maybe my next house will have room like that. I don't care what the house size is just need space for a couple cars and my toys, good luck there, it looks awesome. Glad you're liking those buckets, the fact that the vinyl pattern is that close is pretty unbelievable. They're gonna look great with all the other things you're doing, total vintage looking hot rod day 2 car. Thats how I would do a muscle car.

that storage unit is packed full now believe it or not! i get it man, garage space is the only thing i care about in a house lol. dude, right, thats why i wanted that set in particular so bad because they look so close to the rest of the interior. ive been hearing it called day 2 for a while now and thats exactly what im going for, i call it period correct, as in, period correct to a 10 year old car hot rodded in the late 70s and since its relative to the north east, all the bondo is correct LOL.

@@UsefulEntertainment if can pull it off I've been thinking about something older again, I've been looking. If something I like and afford comes along l have a couple universal period correct accessories sitting so I won't be scrambling to find what I'm looking for, I pretty much know exactly what else I need. So far I have a 8k Sun Tach from the 60s and a new in the box 8-Track made by Lear Jet, I'm looking for a set of green line Stewart Warner gauges in the chrome bezel and a pair of Thrush muffler or glasspacks, I have to wait on the Cragar's and traction bars until I know what car they'll be going on..

FYI you can still run the bench seat you just need a different shifter handle. Oldsmobile made them specifically for bench seats. The shifter handle just has a different bend and they are etched with the numbers 442 down the side of them. They are all over eBay and the Internet if you would still like to run the bench seat. Awesome video. And btw Mr Gasket owns Hurst shifters if I'm not mistaken. Factory shifters will work, just change the handle and adjust the bump stops and you're done. No need to buy the new shifter.

Yup, I have a factory handle for a bench seat, the problem is I have a folding arm rest and it's just not high enough. If I kept the arm rest up, it would work out but I'm not living without my arm rest lol. I'm looking into an aftermarket console that has an arm rest to put between the buckets. I never heard Hurst was owned by MG but who knows these days. What ever that shifter is, it's a no name lol.

Great score on the seats, but damn, I just can't get over the prices for old car parts now. Legendary has really nice covers if you ever need to recover them. Good thing you're vacating that old unit. I had some units in NY when I lived a couple states away and checked on them once or twice a year. The douchebag that owned the place was too cheap to fix the downspouts and one was dumping water 3 feet off the ground right next to my door running under it into my unit every time it rained. Ruined a lot of my stuff and I had a car in there that the interior was covered in mold. Took me a couple years to clean it up.

Tell me about it, the prices will start to come back down when the people that inflated the prices to retirement money start to disappear over the upcoming decades... My unit has the same problem, the roof was leaking for a long time that I didn't know about and had the same interior mold issue with a trans am... Not fun.

@@UsefulEntertainment I was able to FINALLY clean up nearly all of the mildew and mold. I found a product at HD called 'Maintex Surface Safe Mold and Mildew Stain Remover'. It comes in a spray bottle and has a lemon smell. It's great because it's a fungicide but doesn't have bleach and won't hurt fabrics. I bought it 5 years ago and it was a little over $2 per bottle for 32oz. The other thing that REALLY worked after wiping everything off was I bought one of those Ozone generators to shock the air. I just rolled up the windows and ran it 10-15 min. If you get one make sure it's got a variable output knob. I've used that little ozone machine so many times since I got it. Kills any kind of smells. Hopefully the prices will come down or stabilize like after 2009. That was awful about that old lady losing those 2 nice cars.

Thats odd that that frame wont work.on your dads wagon. I know the 91-96 sedan frames swap over to 77-90

the frame is the same from 77-90 but itl only work on sedans.

I just bought a set of buckets from a 70 chevelle in the same condition for only 800$. I just put them in my 70 Monte

thats what i was hoping to get them for but even at 1100, i got a deal. people selling all this old junk think its worth a gold mine and its really not, especially when the people that think its worth so much go extinct.
