My dad brought a new one of these home on a test drive from Dixon Ford in Oceanside CA. I really wanted him to buy it but I think my mother talked him out of it. It was lavender. I really liked the interior and the suicides. He was gonna trade in his '62 Buick Electra 225. That's the closest I ever got to one of these. They are Rare! Lucky you!

My FAVORITE car of all time! I had a 68 with suicide doors when I was 22 when I went to into the Air Force. It needed some work but rode great. I gave it to my brother so he could trade it for an engine for his car and a transmission and tires for his wife car so they didn't lose their jobs. Never regretted it... but still miss it!!

That's a beauty. With the original paint, it means that you can wax the car with impunity. No clear coat!

owned a 68 T-Bird in 1970, bought it at Luke Bolton Ford in Ft Lauderdale, traded my 1964 T-Bird which was immaculate but had no A/C & the 68 did. S Florida in the summer A/C is a must. It was a 2 door loaded but no vinyl roof, which was what I was looking for. A CA Car so only 2 years old it was a looker.

I have a 67 Thunderbird with the rear suicide doors. Got the 390 FE 6.4 l so the smaller engine you could get with the glamor birds as they were called, It sounds funny saying that considering that's still a massive engine. I've been fixing it up. Carburetor had to go so replaced it with a Holly 750 vacuum secondary. Fixed up and replaced some stuff so she is riding very well now. I hit her up to like. Take her out once or twice a week does she gets driven I'm in SoCal so I can get her up to around 80/90mph on the highways without getting a ticket. She's a blast to drive, And like you mentioned these glamor birds get a lot of attention, people love talking about it asking questions they just don't see anything like it. Mine's got the black landau with the Tahoe turquoise paint job. Peeling in some places as it's the original paint got to get that corrected at some point and she's got some rust and I'm going to have to deal with. Mainly surface level stuff and more around the wheels and such. Fun car though.

Wasn't the bench seat called the 60/40 split bench? Driver and passenger seats were independent. Very nice car and you did a great job bringing it back to life.

That is not a universal - that dashboard fits 1967 1968 and 1969 Thunderbird Dam but you make it sound like you could just go down to the dashboard store and they have them in stock you stock if that dash pad was easy to get and easy to put in it wouldn’t be cracked with it but you keep on with your story because it’s fucking hilarious
