Didn't these come with front disc brakes?

Not that one. Disc brakes usually required a power booster (absent) and an asymmetric master cylinder. Also, 1968 Ford products with power front disc brakes would have had chrome trim on the brake pedal (at least those with automatic transmissions), with a chrome circle in the middle of the pedal as part of that single piece chrome trim.

I think people get confused when they see Gran Touring on the door panels… I owned a 68 GT Fastback back in the day.. but as you say the Gran Torino name came in 72.
