1968 Georgia at Tennessee

This is the 9/14/1968 Georgia at Tennessee game. It is part narrated film and part original broadcast. 1968 was a year that had Georgia winning the SEC and Tennessee finishing second. This was a season opener and if by chance the Vols had pulled this out they would have won the SEC and The Sugar Bowl bid. Even at that, the second place finish put them in the Cotton Bowl. This is also significant because it was the first game ever played on Astroturf. I always thought it was utilized first in the upper midwest because weather torn up the field by November but it was an SEC 1'st. Both teams had strong seasons but neither played well in their Bowl game. I claim no rights.

Ohio State and USC were the best teams in 1968. 1980 was better for Georgia.Tennessee contended for decades until they got it done in 98.
