Born in 79, so times had changed by the time I got my first real job at 15. Changed even more after that, obviously. So thankful for my parents and both sets of grandparents who showed me great people like him. Honestly, his voice comforts me. Reminds me of my childhood and a time before me I never got to personally experience.

What a wonderful man and truly one of my heroes! I’m in my mid 50’s and grew up with Paul Harvey. I can’t describe how one man can truly love another man he’s never even met, but I did love Paul Harvey, and his passing left an irreplaceable hole / void nobody would ever be able to fill. Even though I’ve lived a mostly great life, there were many days that listening to his news and Rest of the Story broadcasts was the most enjoyable part of my day. Nobody will ever replace that distinguished voice and generational talent to activate one’s imagination as Mr. Paul Harvey. What a legacy!!

As a kid in the 60s, I used to spend a week every summer with my aunt and uncle in Lufkin Texas. My uncle would come home from the foundry which was just a few blocks away, for "dinner", (not lunch), after eating, he'd sit in his living room chair and listen to Texas State Network News and Paul Harvey. Returning from work before supper he'd again listen to the news and Paul Harvey's The Rest Of The Story. It was a ritual that was constant as the stars at night. Years later, returning from the Navy, at my job, we'd gather at lunch and listen on the work truck radio to Paul Harvey after the noon news . I know many others have such great memories to share. Paul Harvey is a piece of Americana that can never be equaled or replaced nor will any present broadcaster be as trusted and beloved as he was.

No one has mentioned that Paul was a man of deep Christian faith and once in awhile would slip in his daily broadcast a snippet of scripture verse or biblical principles. He was always careful not to sound too “religious” knowing most of his listeners were not interested in the gospel so he was respectful of everyone who listened! What great character!

I read here in the comments, that there are those that wish Mr. Harvey was still with us ! In the practical, I would agree ! But I too believe if Mr. Harvey were alive today, that after analyzing what happens on the day to day, I'm afraid he may be speechless ! And if not by choice, then by sensor ! As there are those that would love to claim responsibility for quieting most likely the Worlds most recognized Broadcast voice of all times ! Something poetic about the timing in all that ! As before the Woke could move to silence him, the Lord thought better of it, and called him home, before an attempt was made in trying to kill the Great American Spirit, that with every word he spoke, so demonstrated those true American philosophies, and principles ! May GOD rest your Soul, Mr. Harvey ! ♥️🥀♥️

Paul Harvey was a treasure! I know Mike Rowe is attempting to emulate him, but the original shines strong in our memories, who were priveledged to hear his voice and fascinating take on the news. I appreciated the quote in this speech, "self importance has ruined more journalists than bad liquor." Perhaps this is a malady in todays journalism, thus more humility would be a welcome attitude. Paul Harvey had wisdom and humility....well he had both in spades.
