Great little film. I lived in Great Yarmouth from 1956 to 1964, then moved to Ontario Canada. I learnt to swim in that pool. A group of us joined a swimming club , I think it was called the “Penguin Club”. Even the name brings a smile back to my face. Yes good times. Thank you.

Never thought I'd ever see that again. I remember Yarmouth pool so well. Outdoor, unheated and salt water too boot. If I remember rightly the diver in the black was called Morris and always seemed to carry a camera with him. I always marvelled at the things he did as a ten year old in 1968. I'm now 58. We used to buy a season ticket for the pool as it worked out so much cheaper as we used the pool all the time. It was 12 shillings and sixpence (62.5p) for a whole summer of fun. I remember peering through the glass door during the winter months looking at the empty pool (it was only open in the summer) longing for the time to come when we could get back to swimming. I still have memories of it being demolished and the site being made ready for the Marina Centre. So sad to see it go. Thanks for posting this up. Great memories.

Thanks for sharing your memories. I bought these old 8mm movies from a second hand shop in Holt, I then purchased a projector online so i could watch these back. It was great to see what was on these old films, especially as they were of the local area. I have no knowledge of the people in the films and wanted to upload them so others would have the chance to reminisce and see if anyone would be able to identify or recognise anyone :) Glad youve enjoyed watching it.

Thanks for the video I so remember the 60's in Gt. Yarmouth with happy memories. My young sister practically spent her summer holidays at the pool, such a shame they demolished it.

Hi Kathy, my mom would have been 20 in 1960, she was raised in Great Yarmouth. Any chance you knew her, Marjorie Hunt, she had a younger brother, Gordon. My grandparents owned a small hotel on the beachfront.

I remember going swimming there with the priory school in the sixties, mrs brett I believe was the instructor. it would be march april time before the season started, and the poor kids would be blue with cold. that's one part of the old days I wont miss.
