Amazing. I had so many of these bikes as a kid. My dad paid $129.99 at R&S Strauss on Staten Island for my 69 🍋 peeler. I could wheelie the entire neighborhood. We lived on these things. Owning one of these today is like having a hemi gtx.... If we only knew

More wheel hop than usual..as kids we learned how to make our rear rims 'super round' with the spoke tool - this was back when 'tweak' meant something totally different than today

I just bought a yellow Stingray with no fenders, slick on the rear, silver sparkle seat on ebay a week ago. I was told that it is a re-make from 1999 or 2000. The chain guard black lettering is chipped in a spot. Are new decals available? The yellow stingray I had as a kid was similar but the chain guard flared at the end and the one I just got is chopped parallel to the frame at the rear. My old bike also had fenders on it.

That bike is a MD serial numbered bike. December of 1968. As with most December serial number bikes this one has the following year features. In this case 1969. A front fender is correct for 1969. The sparkle yellow vinyl seat is correct for 1969. The shifter is half right. 1969 the shifter was bent over like the one on this bike. This bike is a December of 1968 meaning it should have the very early 1969 features, the early 1969 knob was more round like a ball. The knob on this shifter is the more long and less like a ball. This style knob was used in late 1969.So I agree with you that the shifter is partially wrong because of the knob. But will have to disagree about the fender and seat on this December 1968 Krate. Thanks for watching and enjoy your six kratesVan Bushnell

I had a 73 orange crate with a rear disc brake for 5 minutes I made two hundred bucks over what I paid for it and I regret selling it

John I have one for you. Does not have the disc brake, but very nice. One is a 68 and I think the other is a 70.

The 68 didn’t have a front fender or black stripe on seat. That’s a 69

Hello The bike featured in the video is up for auction on Ebay ending Sunday 4/2/2017 (Search: Schwinn Lemon Peeler on Ebay). I would consider this bike to be one of the more desirable and collectible Schwinn Stingrays. I have other stingrays and similar bikes that fall in the "Rider" category and not bring the value $$$$ of this bike. I would be happy to discuss this bike or others in more detail. Thank you Van Bushnell call or text 2814706911
